To say I didn't feel welcome is an understatement! And their coffee was actually kinda crap! My daughter didn't even drink her Chai.Since management nor ownership can be bothered to give a customer any time at all via phone or otherwise, I have decided to write a review perhaps now they will do something about the situation.
My brother and I recently took a quick trip to Denver to pick up my daughter from DIA, Her flight landed at about 9:30 at night and was running a bit late. Because of the late arrival and our 6-7 hr. drive ahead of us we decided it best to stay with family in Castle-Rock. Non of us slept a whole lot nor did we shower that evening. Probably mostly because we where tired and got caught up visiting family we hadn't seen in a very long time!
The next day we decided to visit a bit more and grabbed a late breakfast early lunch at a diner near lost coffee. But before we got on the road for the long drive home we decided we wanted some coffee and after a quick google search decided on this establishment.
We got our coffee and hit the road. A few hours later I was contacted via phone by Castle-Rock Sheriffs Department for a welfare check on my 12 year old daughter. who said "A barista at lost coffee said, "My daughter was quiet and we looked dirty."."
A 3-4 hour flight for my daughter plus her hr. or two drive to the airport plus hr. drive from DIA to Castle-Rock. My brother and I a 6-7 hr. drive plus some time. No showers, etc. Me a contractor all of my clothes are "Dirty" looking, and to be fair I do have some dental issues so my teeth look horrid I'm sure. My daughter is also a little shy when in new places. However, while waiting for coffee we where all laughing and discussing a game we where going to play on the drive home. My brother and I where giving my Daughter a hard time about it. She had an expensive drawing tablet she was messing with. I was driving a 2013 ish Honda Pilot. So we shouldn't look poor or not doing well. My brother and I both payed in cash...
Anyways... I'm irritated that management nor ownership would bother after two weeks of phone calls etc. to speak with me about this incident so perhaps this lengthy review will get their attention and they will do something about their profiling employees.
That said its great people out there are looking out for little kids. However, I feel this particular case was rude and unwarranted. perhaps while waiting for coffee or while we where ordering they should have asked some questions or something verse assuming things. Especially since they obviously saw my New Mexico license plate to call the Sheriffs with.
On top of all this their coffee and Chai tea was... underwhelming and not even worth finishing. Had the ownership or management tried, after me leaving multiple messages with staff for them to reach out, then perhaps this review could have been a...
Read moreAll too common cafes don’t know how to make simple drinks like cappuccinos and macchiatos. Lost Coffee is one. I asked if they could make a macchiato and she said something about a latte, so I didn’t bother. Today I asked for a cappuccino and he filled it to the top with milk - it was basically just a latte. So disappointing. I’ve been 4 times recently but I’ve given up of ever getting a proper coffee there now. It doesn’t seem to matter what you ask for as you’ll just get a latte anyway. And the smallest is $4.05. Very expensive for a cup of milk. In response to the owner: People don’t go to a car dealer and ask for a ‘car’. They ask for a Prius or Camry or Accord because they know what they are. People do not simply ask for a coffee. They ask for a cappuccino, latte, or whatever because they know what to expect. You shouldn’t give your drinks traditional names then give the customer something else. That’s what Starbucks have been doing. I know people like big drinks in the US so you fill the cups to the top with milk to make them heavy. But that’s just lowering the standard. You should specify ‘traditional cappuccino’ or ‘American cappuccino’ so folk know if they’re getting a latte or not, and make sure your staff know how to make them. I kept returning to your cafe because the beans were good, but it’s a waste to roast them properly then drown...
Read moreThe castle rock location used to be a 5 star coffee shop for me, used to go there all the time. Even worked there years ago. But over the last few years they really have gotten worse. The atmosphere used to be cozy and loungey, a place where I can comfortably sit, drink coffee and work. Now it is all hard benches and uncomfortable. Visually appealing, but not cozy to sit and work for an hour or two.
But what really is giving this place 2 stars right now is their product offering. When you go to a coffee shop you want variety of flavors and options. Flavors you want to see and have are Caramel, white mocha, hazelnut, etc. NOT HERE… they only have mocha, vanilla, and lavender… I had to default to their limited flavors. I have more flavors at my own home than here! They also do not have other milk alternatives. We drink soy in our lattes, they did not even have soy milk, the most basic and popular milk sub out there! Lost used to have it all. Now they have barely anything, like they are going out of business or something with how little they offer. Their food options used to be abundant, now it’s a small selection of less quality foods.
I used to love it here at Lost… now when I walk in there I am just curious what they have left to offer, rolling the dice anymore with them. Just sad.
Sorry guys, but it’s the truth. Go back...
