Planet Fitness — Attraction in Cayce

I like this location. Definitely one of the better PFs I’ve been too. They have the arc trainer model I usually use (only about a half dozen though) and the one I used was calibrated perfectly, so I had a great invigorating sweat. Members seem pretty cool. No space invaders or wandering eyes. A few people stared at me while I was using the arc trainer, but honestly, after years of using it I’m accustomed to the states and folks sizing me up. My routine is intense. I like the emphasis on mask wearing, a lot of cleaning stations and spray and wipes and that made me feel very comfortable. I think some folks may be a little too cautious, but that’s fine. I still love the PF in Woodstock, Georgia, that issued everyone their own spray bottle and members return it before leaving. I thought that was a very proactive approach.

Some areas of improvement are attention to cleaning and re-stocking paper towels and stuff like that. I’ve been here three hours and one of the men’s room stalls is still out of toilet paper and constant attention to cleaning is an absolute must for me to feel totally safe. Also, appearently I owe fees(?). I’m not sure what this about, probably the annual fee, but my home gym is in NYC and it’s still closed. I’m reaching out to PF through the methods I have available, but still no response. I’ve been a black card member since 2016 and I don’t deserve to be given a difficult time. Members have the black card for a reason. Most of us travel a lot and I think locations need to understand that people from different places lead different lives and experience different cultures and no single member experienced life the same.

Otherwise, a lot of equipment, a lot of room, generally cool members, nobody bothered me, which was great, and I would definitely recommend this PF. Staff is doing a great job and they are very helpful...

An excellent PF! I have been working out in PFs since they became an entity, and this one is up there as a top facility that holds its own against any gym! The facility was well equipped and the equipment was in good shape overall. In addition, I was extremely impressed with the writing on the mirror; "phone call/texting conversations in the lobby only." This is a real "step up" from most Planet Fitness facilities - all of which suffer from too many people sitting on the (most popular) equipment and texting, etc. No, this won't stop the behavior, but it is a step in the right direction and promotes a positive message. At the least it shows that PF is not oblivious to the fact that some people truly do come to PF to work out and get fit (not just "be seen" and play with their phones). I hope more PFs will follow this approach. It will lead to a better environment for all. More and more people of ALL Ages are starting to take fitness more seriously, and expressing at least some respect for us is probably a very smart business decision for PF which already has the other demographic (the "phoneys") sealed as patrons. (Those people will still sign up for memberships because their behavior is not tolerated at other gyms.) I hope this catches on! The gym is fine, but the customer service by the management is severely lacking. You can only cancel in 2 ways, in person or through mail. It is intentionally difficult. However, you can transfer your gym online very easily, which could lead to theft.

They did not charge me for several months after I requested a cancellation over email and then did not communicate when they began charging me again. The store and regional manager would not refund me for those charges. They simply repeated the agreement/policy. I think the policy takes advantage of the customer and is wrong. The policy should change or they should be up-front with the customers about the policy when they sign on so members do not accidentally accrue months worth of charges for services they have zero access to.

They also repeated that they did communicate but they would not send me any records of those communications.

After managing to cancel my membership by transferring to a nearby gym and going in person, the regional manager cut off all conversation and would not answer my questions regarding the supposed communications and reasonable accommodations they consistently referred to.
