I’ve only been going to this gym for a week now, but I have never been so excited or motivated to work out. If you’re thinking about going here, I highly suggest you get the Annual Standard Membership. The amenities are amazing, and if you go faithfully 4-5 times a week, it’s about a $1.50 a day to work out, use the sauna, tan, or go to a class. (That’s my motivation at least) I can understand why some people would be upset about the annual fees, but if you can’t read the fine print... that’s on you. I also don’t think canceling a gym membership should be easy, but that’s just me. (Again, part of my motivation)
The staff are super helpful (shout out to Shanna). The standard comes with a fitness assesment that’ll help you create some goals and put you on the right track. And the coaches/trainers are always willing to answer your questions or give you a pointer if they’re not with a client. Overall, the staff truly are concerned about your health and helping you meet your goals.
Also. ITS CLEAN! When I was signing up I saw a review that said it was dirty.... couldn’t be further from the truth. I see the owners and staff walking around constantly, making sure things a running smoothly and efficiently. Best gym ever, Id recommend it over the SUU gym or VASA any day.
(And for anyone that thinks it’s weird/bad that the owners try to confirm membership for bad reviews. I actually think that shows a lot of care. I’m sure their intent is to contact that member to address their concerns, not just to discredit...
Read moreGreat Gym when you're able to go. Since the Covid-19 outbreak I've been limited to only essential exposure. I called in March to cancel membership and it was a bit crazy. The girl I talked to said she'd get back to me. The payment kept coming out and I was okay with supporting them through the closure. Now in October I'm getting autodialer calls threatening fees etc... I've called every number I can find and talked to Abc financial twice. I've emailed about cancellation. ABC financial says they can only collect, not sort out cancellation, and if I ignore the bills they'll turn me over to collections. After I get this sorted out and can safely go to a gym, I doubt I'll ever go back to Retro. Charging my wife and I months after cancellation feels wrong and the penalties in the contract are three months of additional payments. I'd call it even at six months just to support local business. Heavy handed tactics using a large corporate company to enforce a contract beyond its bounds just makes me want to dig in my heels. It just doesn't seem right. If a business isn't ethical, I prefer not to support it. Enforcing a contract beyond penalties stated is...
Read moreThis gym does not honor military serving their country deployed.
My husband and I are both military and have been members at this gym for four years. I deployed with the military overseas for the last year. Before I left, I froze my membership and was to come back and re-activate my membership at the same rate with no additional charges. Upon my return I was informed my membership had been cancelled and my contact information given to a manager to call me. When a manager called after the third time into the gym asking, he told me that he had no record of my membership being frozen. I provided the email to him but he told me that I would have to sign up for a new membership at a higher rate since mine was cancelled and the rates "had gone up". I inquired as to why my husband's membership could remain low but since I was serving my US military, I had to return and pay a higher rate. He told me he would get back to me but never did after three weeks. I have since gone to another gym and my husband is also cancelling his membership. This is how the gym treats military deployed...
