Cedar Key Public Beach — Attraction in Cedar Key

Cedar Key Beach has a lot of potential, but there are a few things to be aware of. The water can look like dirty swamp water, and when you get deeper, the sand feels like mud, which is pretty unpleasant. The beach sand isn't as pristine as it appears in photos—it's a bit dirty with some trash around. Beach is connected to City Park and the boat dock. There are public restrooms, showers, and covered picnic tables at the park. The beach is probably 200 yards long and there is a healthy mixture of shells and vegetation all over. You do get the occasional fishy smell from the pier/boat ramp. This is the perfect beach for a day trip if you live in North Central Florida. The facilities are wonderful- ample free parking, bathhouses, picnic shelters and grills, a basketball court, and a playground.
