My wife and I took our family to the beach to celebrate our granddaughters graduation from high school and one from grade school. Our group totaled 15. On our way back north, we have found Harbour Master Suites in Cedar Key to be the perfect place to relax and unwind after entertaining two condos full of kids and grandkids. On this trip we had reserved two of the Harbour master suites, one for us and one for our daughter who had experienced stage IV colorectal cancer as well as cancer in both lungs. We thought the suites overlooking the gulf watching the dolphins and birds would bring her extra joy before her next set of scans next week. The first day was great as long as we were not rushed climbing the stairs...no elevator here, but the staff is very willing to carry your luggage. Many of the restaurants are also upstairs so be prepared to climb and descend the stairs. Our first night a huge storm came up that lasted the entire night and next day and night. Regrettably our daughter did not get to see all the beauty this place has to offer but what she did experience was very enjoyable and memorable. We love the place so much my wife has asked me not to be so quick to tell everyone I see how great the place is for fear it will become overloaded and have the quaint atmosphere change. Because Cedar Key is primarily a fishing village and not near large cities, I expect it to remain much like it is today. A wonderful place to unwind and slow down. The staff at the Harbour Master could not be more helpful or accommodating with what you might need. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and take care of your needs. I own a vacation rental cabin and these folks treated me just like I treat our guests. I feel the same for the local police. Parking can be a real problem on busy weekends. One our last two trips to Cedar Key I asked the local police for advice and received helpful guidance for parking. We have had a full week booked for 2019 for several months after our busy time at the beaches in lower Florida, a week here will get us ready to brave the cold up north. Cedar Key is a fishing village. If you get a chance take time to talk to some of the local commercial fishermen. I did and learned a lot about there lives and the challenges they face. One of the fellows, who is a third generation fisherman even named his son Fisher. They were a delight...
Read moreMy wife and stayed here this weekend and loved this place. We have stayed at many hotels and B&Bs and one thing that is always missing is an exceptional customer experience. But, we found that at Harbour master suites. From the time we made reservations to after we checked out, we felt taken care of. Mary checked us in, drove us by golf cart to get our luggage from our car and gave us her recommendations for what to do, what not to miss, best restaurants and where to see live music. Then she showed us to our room and gave us all the info we need for a comfortable stay. When someone came to service our room and we were not there, a note was put on our door to let us know who to call if we needed anything. The room was huge and perfectly cleaned before our arrival. The view from our outside sitting area was overlooking the gulf and the dolphins 🐬. Needless to say, when we return to Cedar key, Harbour suites is the only place we will stay. I was particularly amazed with a young woman who was walking past me, arms loaded with laundry that she just stripped off a bed in another room. Arms full, she passed me, stopping to ask me if there was anything that I needed. I wish I got her name. On our way home, we received call from Mary letting our friend know that he had left a shirt behind and not to worry, she would mail it to him.|Wow, the owners of this hotel should be so proud of...
