My dad and I went on a two day charter with Travis with the hopes of catching a trophy bass to mount on the wall and introducing some experienced NY freshwater fishermen to the world of Saltwater Flats fishing. Travis did not disappoint one bit. After weather forced us to rethink which freshwater lake to fish, Travis’ expertise and local knowledge shined. We were able to have a blast catching bass of various sizes in a variety of ways, including topwater, and even had a shot at the biggest bass of our lives, unfortunately she outsmarted us though. The next day, not knowing what to expect, Dad and I had one of the most fun days of fishing in years. After we caught around 50 speckled sea trout and one highly unexpected Flounder, we decided to focus on redfish, unfortunately conditions weren’t right for the redfish, but Travis put Dad and I on our first ever Snook each, and monster ones at that at 33” and 35 1/2” each. Travis’ knowledge of techniques, bodies of water and fish behavior is nothing short of incredible and we will be doing a charter trip with him annually from now on. He is highly personable and easy to talk to, ask for advice, and an awesome coach during the trip. He even offered to clean the keeper trout we caught. Highly professional, high class, and extremely productive trips are what you can expect when you book with Captain Travis Blucher. Thank you for a very memorable two...
Read moreI went out fishing with Captain Travis and caught a fish almost as big as me. We started out with Captain Travis catching fresh bait for us to use and we are off. He coached me through the different kinds of hooks we were using and how to set or not set the hook based on which one we were using. I am very inexperienced and was way too excited! I was pulling in sharks and was happy as a clam. I fought a monster redfish before losing him to some oyster beds. Captain Travis gave me more advice and I asked him if he’d be mad if I lost a rod to a monster fish lol. Not two minutes after asking that question, I got a monster on the line. I was shaking. I was struggling. I was laughing and living my best life. He coached me through how to reel it in properly and offered just enough assistance to allow me to catch a 31” redfish! It was so big I had to use both hands to hold up the fish for a picture. He’s the most laid back, knowledgeable, and nice guy there is. I would HIGHLY recommend him to any...
Read moreCertainly a questionable weather day but my boys and I were game anyway. I woke up to a text from Capt. Travis and fearing a cancelation, I was pleased when he was already having breakfast close by - he was game too! (read: reliable and true to his word) He trusts that Ranger Cayman's soft, quality ride and you can, too. Though experienced Chesapeake bay fishermen, the three of us had never crossed a red drum off of our bucket list - thanks to Travis, today would be our day. We were on the reds from the get go, despite the awful wind and rain. We boated over 20 nice reds in less than 2 hrs. Capt. Travis is not only the consummate professional guide, he is as passionate about his fishing as anyone I've ever met. But most importantly, an absolutely fantastic person to spend a morning with, as his obvious delight in watching others slam 'em shines through; even soaking wet. Well done Captain! No reason to fish with anyone else when visiting Cedar Key. See you soon. Bob,...
