I remember coming to the island 2 days after Helene hit. Everything was devastated. Nothing open. No water anywhere. I'm from Indianapolis so not used to this type of thing. I was questioning why rebuild? Day 3 I come to the island to help where I could help. I saw a table out in front of this building. Coffee ready to serve for free for anyone on the island. I was immediately touched at my soul level. As a painter I'm passionate about being there for others. Seeing Ben doing just that. Having coffee out and ready to serve showed me exactly why you clean up and rebuild. Seeing Ben's passion for coffee and being there for others made me fall in love with this island and the people on this island. Thank you Ben! This is my favorite place in the island. The vibe is it. Coffee is roasted local and the flavor stands out... GET HERE!!! It's worth a trip just for breakfast and coffee. You won't regret...

A friend and I spent the day in Cedar Key. Before leaving town, we stopped by 1842 Daily Grind & Mercantile to pick up drinks for the drive home. I ordered a London Fog, and she tried the spicy lemonade. My London Fog was the best I’ve ever had. The addition of lavender is genius, and all the flavors are perfectly proportioned. And my friend’s spicy lemonade? WOW! I’ve never had anything like it, and I’m tempted to drive back to Cedar Key just to have a full cup for myself. The lemonade flavors are wonderful, and the perfect amount of spice enhances the flavors and provides just the right tickle at the back of your throat. Truly amazing. I should also mention that the staff are incredibly friendly (and genuinely appreciative of kind words), and the prices are surprisingly reasonable. 1842 Daily Grind & Mercantile was the perfect way to end a perfect visit...

I have traveled quite a bit and this is the worst coffee I have ever had. McDonald’s has better coffee than this place. It was very weak, it was like brown water. My drink was a large iced coffee. My egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel had processed American cheese. If I had known that I would not have ordered. I will never go there again. The guys that work there were super friendly and had positive energy. I was hoping for a nice coffee and breakfast sandwich before I went kayaking and I’m afraid I was disappointed. Please use real cheese on your breakfast sandwiches or advertise that you use processed cheese. I will try to remember to ask next time I order a breakfast sandwich what kind of cheese is used. They probably ran out of cheddar and had to go to the Local market and that was all they had. My brother also said his coffee was the worst he...

Cute little place and really delicious coffee! I had a Chai Latte and it was creamy and perfect! My husband had a Caramel Mocha and he loved it. There were lots of locals there, having a small breakfast and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. They play old vinyl records, which we loved. Awesome little place! They do however, have several misspellings on the menu on the wall and on the printed menu, which is a small thing, but if you're going to have a menu, spell items correctly...ie avocado, etc.

Visited with family for a quick morning trip to Cedar Key. Service was good - staff welcoming and friendly. Food was delicious - had leftovers due to nicely sized portions. Coffee was yummy. Only complaint is need for better air circulation / ventilation - we ended up smelling like the food / meat that was prepared. We would return despite this - we would like to try out other options and I also like the quaintness & coziness of the place.

My husband, teenage daughter, and myself ate breakfast there this morning. The operators were very kind and it was obvious the food and drinks were made with care. My daughter had smoked salmon bagel, husband had ham and cheese sandwich, and I had avocado toast with eggs and fruit. It was all very tasty and fresh. Our beverages were also great. We look forward to going back during our stay.
