My wife knits a lot. She normally purchases several skeins at a time from a big box store. Recently, we noticed a new retailer in our community named beWoolen. We decided to enter and browse. My wife selected 6 skeins at about 200 yds each. We went to the register and the clerk totaled the purchase as 3 @ $19.75ea and 3 @ $26.50ea. The total added to $138.75. My wife looked at me and I offered my debit card for payment. I had the urge to end the sale at that moment because of the price and my wife seemed not entirely accepting of the high price, yet we finished the purchase and went home.
Later that evening, my wife became more conscience of the extremely high price that we paid and said that she would return the unused yarn. The next day she went back to the store and requested a refund. She was told by the store owner that only a store credit can be offered. My wife asked where the refund policy is displayed as stating STORE CREDIT ONLY. The store owner said that the refund policy is printed on the receipt after the sale is made. Yes, at the bottom of the receipt, there is a statement, "Returns will be in the form of store credit".
May I suggest that if you wish to shop at this store, then be aware that the prices are most likely 4 times higher compared to other retailers for similar items. Also, note that you can NEVER get your money back regardless of the reason. If you are comfortable with these terms, then you may find this business to your liking, else go to another store and save a bunch of money and have a normal...
Read morebeWoolen is not inclusive. After signing up and attending the first night of a class. I received a call 6 hours before the second night from beWoolen stating that my nursing baby was a disruption to the class and that "I really hope you have baby sitting services for tonight's class."
Once returning the call, they stated that was not the intention (the intention was very clear in the voicemail) and offered a private class for my group. I have signed up for the class because this day and time worked best for my family as I live over 1 hour away and have other children (who were with a baby sitter).
Nowhere on the website does it state nursing babies are not welcome. All that to say we will not be back to beWoolen and will share our experience with our crocheting and...
Read more3.5 stars This yarn shop is well stocked and cute, but likely wont be returning. I didn't see other reviews mentioning this but they don't wind your yarn for you. I didn't realize until I had gotten all the way home that they didn't offer (every single other yarn store I've visited offers to wind it for you), and then when I went back to get it done I was told that we have to wind it ourselves in the backroom with one of those plastic hand cranks. The store clerk did teach me as I hadn't done this myself before so I appreciated that. In future I will go to a store that does this for you though, especially since with a recent price increase the identical yarn I bought is more expensive than another local store that does...
