I wish I loved my hair, but each day that passes I hate it more and more. I went to get a balayage almost 2 weeks ago, and said I didn't want any blond. I wanted a chestnut to caramel color and for it to look as natural as possible. Showed a bunch of examples and we talked about it. Nicole sounded confident with what she was doing and made me feel like she understood my request. But that wasn't the case at all. It's as if the toner has rinsed out and all you see on the money piece are bright blond patches. I also noticed the strokes of the highlights or balayage are very messy and look poorly placed. You could not see this on the day of, because it was styled and not noticeable. If I pull my hair back, all you see is blond patches mixed with the color she was trying to give me and if I'm honest, it just looks poorly done. She didn't leave enough of my dark hair to give it that natural balayage look. I would have went back to have them fix it, but I see I missed the window to have that done. They only give you 7 days to bring up issues. That was my fault for not trying to get it fixed sooner since I really was trying hard to like the hair. I hate being that person to complain so I kept trying to love it. I know Nicole tried her best and was super friendly, but this was not the results I was hoping to get. Doesn't help that each day that passes it just keeps getting lighter and lighter and I've grown to hate it more and more. Especially the front piece which is bright blond on the top of my crown and doesn't blend well or even on both sides of the middle part. Plus it doesn't evem match the rest of the color she did. Not sure if the toner didn't sit long enough or what. It almost looks as if I did the highlights myself. I wont be going back to waste any more money ($200 spent already) and think I'll just have to box dye my hair soon...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've had nothing but great haircuts at other AZ Hair Co locations, but this one was something awful.
I came in around noon for a walk-in haircut. The guy who would be my hairdresser was sleeping in his chair - literally, the receptionist had to go tap and wake him up.
He was argumentative from the start about some basic things and seemed to want to shave my head (?) without understanding that I was just asking for a basic trim.
We eventually settled that and he started cutting my hair. Seemed to be rushing and generally not happy to be doing this. In the middle of my haircut he was complaining to the receptionist about only being booked for haircuts today - presumably because bigger jobs pay more? Don't know, but not the kind of thing you want to hear halfway through a haircut.
A few hours later I wash my hair and it becomes pretty clear - he made a mess of it. Uneven layers all over, the back is chopped up pretty incoherently. Most of it is wildly uneven and random. I really can't look at what was done here and think anything other than A) he messed it up this badly on purpose or B) he cared so little that he wasn't really looking. This is bad enough that I would consider it either intentional or grounds to stop cutting hair all together.
Suffice to say, I won't be getting it fixed at this location. And probably not at any AZ Hair Co - had generally good experiences with them in the past, but don't want to run the risk of this happening twice.
Pretty sure the stylist was Chris. I had gotten my hair cut by Nicole previously and she was awesome. I do think it was just one bad stylist, not a problem with the company, but the standards are just too low to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI asked for a small trim just to even things out and we agreed on ½ to 1 inch max. I was asked and specifically said I didnāt want shorter layers and that Iām trying to grow my hair out so just the minimum possible to get the dead ends off and to even out the existing layers, so the long layers were fine. Instead, my shortest layer was cut to about chin length, which was about 5 inches shorter than it was when I went in. By the time I saw what was happening it was already too late, so I just watched as my last years progress to grow out my layers was lost. It also is just one obvious layer then drops off to the end of my hair which is exactly why I went in on the first place was to blend the gap between layers but an inch from the bottom, not halfway up my hair.
Also, the layer is not even close to even on both sides. I have split dye hair so it's very easy to compare. The blonde side is TWO INCHES shorter than the brown all the way around.
I am now paying $100 to go somewhere to have a professional fix it, but honestly I'm just mostly sad to lose my progress of hair growth and spent the entire day crying. Nothing can be done now so I'm just hoping this helps someone else avoid this happening to them at least.
Update: After they responded saying they reached out to me I checked but never had a missed call so I called the store to see if there was anyone I could talk to since I had no number to call back from the review response. They said they had no idea and they would have a manager call me back over a week ago, but haven't heard anything. Assuming I'll never get a call, but will...
