The worst salon experience I’ve ever had. I’ve never left a review anywhere, but this was too insane not to. This was my first time going. I made an appointment for 4:45. I got there a few minutes early, and had no problem waiting a bit, even though I had an appointment time set as I wasn’t in a huge rush. However, I waited 30 minutes past my appointment time for them to start on me. I had my nails done by Ivan, and was truly shocked at what transpired. She was so rough with the electric file as well as the handheld file. Long story short, I sat on the verge of tears as she filed my cuticles raw. I had 9+ cuts on 6 different fingers that were actively bleeding. I pulled away multiple times due to pain, and would say it hurt when she’d ask why. Once she was done and I went to wash my hands, I actually got blood on the towel. By the end i was so distraught and just wanted to leave, so I paid and tipped to get out as quickly as possible. My cuticles were red, swollen, and tender for the following days and were painful to the touch or even to warm water. I was absolutely shocked. The next day I went to get my money back (something I’ve also never done before) because I was so upset. When I brought this up, three of the workers began arguing with me (including Ivan), saying they hadn’t bled the night before and weren’t red when they clearly were. Ivan was actually pushing down hard on my red and tender cuticles over and over to try to get me to react in pain while asking if it hurt. I ended up getting my money and tip back, but I truly believe it was only because there was another woman in the salon getting her nails done and they were all preoccupied arguing with me and had to get back to her appointment. I’ve attached photos from the morning after I had gotten them done, as well as a few days later with the obvious scabbing. One cut was even starting to become infected and ooze.

Read moreI feel terrible writing this but it was not a good job. I think it was just the particular nail tech I got; I watched the others and they seemed to know what they were doing. My person was clearly trying to do a good job; she would examine her work and made touch ups. But the end result is something I regret paying for.
I’ve been doing my own nails at home for 3 years (regular polish, dip, and gel) and doing a lot of self-education on nail care and application best practices. I am by no means a licensed nail tech, but I have learned what I know from people that are. I’m not claiming to know everything about nails, but I know enough to know that best practices for nail care were not followed by my particular nail tech.
She used the carbide bit on the file on my natural nail, which anyone knows is a huge no go. Carbide bits are ONLY for removing gel or acrylic; they are too coarse to use on the natural nail because it will absolutely destroy it. Which it did. My entire nail bed is one big ring of fire.
She also soaked my hands in acetone for 2 full hours. I had builder gel on my nails to give them strength, and she wasn’t familiar with it. Since it didn’t melt away under the efile like normal gel does, she wrapped my fingers in acetone-soaked cotton balls wrapped in tin foil (normal procedure) and then wrapped my hands in plastic baggies (to prevent the acetone evaporating) and let that soak for 2 hours (not normal procedure). 20 minutes is the max you should leave acetone on your skin or nails. My skin in peeling off my fingers and my palms because the acetone dried me out so much. The backs of my hands are cracking.
The actual manicure itself wasn’t very well done either. My cuticles are flooded, they were stained for a few days after, there was gel on my sidewalls that I had to pick off, and there are bubbles in the gel on my actual nail.

Read moreIt should be called PTSD! That's how I felt after the painful, shoddy, unprofessional experience I had there with my daughters. My dip mani chipped after one day on two different nails and both of the nails had broken. It turns out my nails had been e-filed paper thin. My daughter had had her sidewalls so vigorously e-filed that 5 of them were bleeding. I will post pic's, but they really don't do the injury justice. When we went the next day, thankfully they gave my daughter her money backed, but they only offered to fix mine for 50% off! Mind you, I would not be so willing to blacken the name of this business had they only provided sub-par service once, but I was foolish enough to have visited them twice. The first dip they had done on me chipped after two days, and I had thought it was just a fluke. When it happened the second time and we went into the salon again to show them my daughters hands, Austin (of the many good reviews) stated that the dip layers were applied too thinly. This is obviously an attempt to save money for the salon. They had also neglected to applied a clear powder base coat. I never went back for their ridiculous 50% offer, but by day three, two more nails had broken. I went back to THE BEST salon in the Twin Cities: Lush in Plymouth and had to have all of my nails cut all of the way down to repair them.
