I don’t get the appeal.
Came for breakfast with the family, 8am and easily got a seat. The host said if we planned on later morning or early afternoon that a reservation is a good idea.
Atmosphere: “WHAT?” Was the theme of the morning. It’s SO LOUD in the place that it was hard to hold a conversation. Way too loud.
Food: Meh. We had a variety of things, and the sentiment for each item across the table was the same. Just alright. I had the Carrot Cake pancakes. And oh my goodness are they rich! The taste was alright, a bit too nutmeggy (it’s a word now). I only managed a couple bites, as it was just too much. As far as portions go, they definitely provide enough food. Big portions!
Service: was ok. Not great. They forgot one of our sides, one persons meal arrived 5 minutes after the rest. Also very awkward paying. Our server gave us a big receipt with a QR code to pay, but said oh that’s gonna cost you more, so I’ll just have you pay with my handheld thing. Oh and just so you know there’s a 3% surcharge to pay with a card….buddy what?!? Makes me wonder what the surcharge is to pay with QR code. But whatever, tap to pay and then of course the tip menu starts at 20%, other options are 25% and 30%. And the worst part is I felt like I had to press one of those because buddy was standing right next to me watching me choose! Ugh! 20% it is I guess…
Price: expensive! 7 bucks for a “large” OJ. I quote large because that’s a small in most restaurants. Everything was overpriced. Came out to 29 bucks per person after the tip, and this is without alcohol! If that’s reasonable to you, and you’re ok with a loud environment while eating sub par breakfast, go grab...
Read moreI was super excited for this place to open in my little hometown. The space is trendy and cute. I loved the plants and decor! The huge downside is the noise level. It’s so loud you can’t hear the people at your own table. It felt like walking into First Ave danceteria. A few small tweaks, like turning down the volume and choosing more relaxing music, would make a huge difference to the ambiance and level of enjoyability.
There were five of us, ages 20 to 80, and we all agreed about the noise. The food was just okay, but the sandwich got high praise. If you're a hashbrown fan, theirs are very crispy and flat. Not greasy, but dry. Coffee drinks were very good. A drip coffee is $6, so for just a bit more, the specialty drinks (like lavender or matcha) were very good. We only had savory, I will try it again and see what the sweets are like. I "hope" my mind is changed for the better.
Heads up: bring cash if you can. They charge extra fees to use a card. Also, be prepared to choose your tip with the staff watching, and the preset options start at 20 percent. Service was on the slow side, but everyone...
Read moreIt is always nice to get some new options in Chanhassen for breakfast as there are not many options right now.
The staff were very nice and warm with their interactions. It felt comfortable talking with them, which is always a plus.
I am not a fan of all the plants but I did have a table away from them so that is nice to have for those of us that don't want a giant leaf near our head.
The food... As a breakfast place, I expected to see omelets on the menu. There was none. That was disappointing. I'm not someone who wants complex meals in the morning, simple is great for me. That's not happening here. Everything except for one dish, seemed like it was trying to be cool and hip, way too much.
I would prefer a few more basic dishes and omelets, nothing fancy but a Denver omelet would be nice.
Also, I would skip the juice, $7 for a very small glass. I could go next to Lakewinds and buy a whole bottle for that. Spending that much for such a small glass was shocking.
I wish the breakfast luck and I hope they can adjust some...
