Washington Square is a quaint, yet perfect stop downtown. If you need a break from walking there's several benches shaded by beautifull oak trees and lovely gardens. And of course you can take in a bit of history while relaxing. There's a number of statues and monuments to view, but for those who are here on holiday I don't believe it's worth making a special trip to see unless you're going to be in the direct vicinity. In a city so rich in history and beauty I would not place this as my number one if you're interested in sightseeing, but rather a great and peaceful place for a break while walking...

Washington Park is a lovely, small park located just off of Broad Street. It's the perfect place to take an escape from the busy city and relax for a bit. The park is very quiet throughout the day, which makes it ideal for reading or taking a nap. There's usually a hot dog cart near the gate serving lunch, which is always appreciated. The park also features several memorials to the various wars, as well as a statue of George Washington facing Meeting Street. All in all, it's a great park and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of peace and quiet in the middle...

Did a ghost tour called Death and Depravity with Ghost City Tours. Overall great. We had a wheel chair bound individual in our group that had trouble following the standard route. Wish management would have taken better consideration of this, as we requested a week prior. Still a five star review bc the tour guide was new and saddled with a big responsibility. I'm sure she will improve on that next time. She was a fantastic story teller and gave us some great gory detailed accounts of...

It is significantly late of a post, however I went on a ghost tour back in October, and we stopped at this park, and we had a good bit of the history explained to us. While we were there, I felt a burning on my back and had my fiance look at it, and we realized that I had been scratched by something through a shirt and a vest. I also captured what seemed to be a ghost orb at a nearby church cemetery (Look for the green circle toward the bottom left corner of the images)

Beautiful historic square named after George Washington. I stopped by midday and it was quiet and peaceful. There is a bust of Washington explaining the history of the square (Charleston's first city park) as well as Washington's visit to the city. There were also several other monuments dedicated to other historic individuals.
