Washington Square is a quaint, yet perfect stop downtown. If you need a break from walking there's several benches shaded by beautifull oak trees and lovely gardens. And of course you can take in a bit of history while relaxing. There's a number of statues and monuments to view, but for those who are here on holiday I don't believe it's worth making a special trip to see unless you're going to be in the direct vicinity. In a city so rich in history and beauty I would not place this as my number one if you're interested in sightseeing, but rather a great and peaceful place for a break while walking...
Read moreWashington Park is a lovely, small park located just off of Broad Street. It's the perfect place to take an escape from the busy city and relax for a bit. The park is very quiet throughout the day, which makes it ideal for reading or taking a nap. There's usually a hot dog cart near the gate serving lunch, which is always appreciated. The park also features several memorials to the various wars, as well as a statue of George Washington facing Meeting Street. All in all, it's a great park and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of peace and quiet in the middle...
