So updating you all on my refund for the blood on the sheets. It was.a hassle but it finally got done about 20min ago I had the run around for almost 2 months. Called and spoke to Neal again today and this time he offered me $75 . I was still not going for that asked to speak to his manager she wanted to offer the same thing. She has a very nasty attitude by the way. I Started off the convo calmly she got heated. Did not want me to speak. So i started yelling back at her. Asked her if I could have all the information for the owner. So that I could call or email them my self. She said no. She was the only person. So I asked her if she owned the place. She said not. Then I asked her who pays her. I think that's a fair question in order to get to the head person. No lead way. Told her I said going to take them to court. On top of that Neal tried to say because the maid worked there for 25 years (which I find hard to believe) she would have seen that blood. Then her told me it was fresh blood. Neal you sill goose, you didn't even see the blood until the next morning. So it would not have been fresh. Neal said that he took pic. I asked him to send them to me. Didn't want to. So now the good news is that my credit card company is refunding for two nights stay instead of the one night that I asked for. I was told that I tarnished their name. I not the only one that has a bad review about their cleaniess 🤔. Bit I the one out of the bunch that has tarnished their name. And I am still taking them to court for putting me through hell these last two months. They should be getting a letter in about two week or so. My lawyer is that damn. Good. One phone call. Bet she will contact the onwner then. Because Neal may have pictures. But I have the pic that comes directly from the crime scene. They are 2.5 out of 5 could not have gotten because of me. Then they had the nerve to not be sorry about that. They need to fire that house keeper. She's giving you guys a bad look according to the cleaniess reviews. Took me a little time to write this because. I am doing it from my phone the car. And I had to make all the call from the car too. So I'm sitting in a parking lot for like an hour and a half trying to get this thing figured out. 09/05/2017
Not sure how this place got any reviews that was over 1 star. Just spent the past weekend there and the first night July 7th my husband and I went to bed only to find blood on the sheet when we pulled back the blanket. When to the front desk and they guy just gave my husband new sheets. We had to change everything ourselves. We had to sleep in a room with bloody sheets on the floor. The next day I went to the front desk to speak with Neal the manager to inform him of what happened. And he said "oh that's what this sticky note is about" anyway he wasn't going to say anything else or do anything until I said well can you come remove these sheets please. Neal came to my room I gave him the sheets and he say "yes that is blood. I see it with my own eyes". I asked him what about compensation for the night. He said because I had booked through a third I would need to call them. And they needed to call him so that he could release the credit. Well I did all that and Neal only offered me $25 on a room that was almost $200 a night. Needless to say I declined the offer and called Capital One and I should have my money back only my next billing cycle. Being that Neal actually told the third party company the truth and the had very detailed notes in my account and all I had to do was forward them right over to capital on. Go Neal!!! It was the only thing you...
Read moreRecently we visited our old favorite French Quarter Inn. We have been visiting Charleston since 1993, when we first stumbled across this quaint little Inn. Over the years it’s been through a few different owners and renovations. The location is superb; sandwiched between two wonderful Charleston restaurants- 82 Queen and Husk. It’s less than a block away from wonderful shopping on King Street and close to historical home tours/museums.
An additional bonus, a parking garage across from the Inn, shopping bag storage-perfect! You are surrounded by wonderful breakfast spots, after grabbing a complimentary coffee/tea at the Inn. We were sorry to hear that the wonderful silver tray breakfast service, to either your room or garden patio, is now a thing of the past. It was so romantic.
Our stay was comfortable and quiet. But, we were located in the center back of the Inn, away from the street.
Years ago, this cute Inn was privately owned, by a sweet elderly couple who loved to entertain. They thought of every detail; exquisitely maintained landscape, polished brass details, beautifully appointed lobby and rooms, with a wonderful attentive group of local employees, who were engaging and fun. They thoroughly enjoyed meeting new travelers. They made you feel as though you were their only guests and they were always looking for ways to make your stay extra special. The owners were always on premises, day and night. As mentioned in an earlier review, this is no longer the case.
We were disappointed that the room we thought we were booking online; depicting an updated room “and” bathroom, was not the room we checked into. The bedroom room was updated (though musty), but the bathroom was circa early 2000’s, with dated dingy 12 x 12” tan travertine tile/brown grout, water damaged drywall near the tub and rusty/pitted bath fixtures, not the step in marble shower with frameless glass shower door. Nope, an old tub with a rusty shower rod with a white shower curtain. I get it, as a southerner myself, the humidity is hard on things; however, it’s time for a refresh, or at least update “all” rooms, as visually demonstrated on your website site, when booking. Felt a bit like bait and switch; especially, when you are led to believe that you are selecting your room based on location and appearance. What you see may not be what you are getting…..
We thoroughly enjoyed the wine and cheese experience provided daily, as well as the always available: water, tea and lemonade, a nice touch on a hot day. The front office managers/staff were professional and helpful, when on site, between 11p and 7a.
I guess the reasonable price
Read moreThe Elliot House was well located, the building was charming, and the staff was polite and welcoming. The morning crew was especially cheerful and made a great start to the day.
Unfortunately there were too many issues that left me disappointed.
The Humidity. I can understand the Charleston climate and the other list of excuses that I heard. However, after showering in the morning and being gone all day, having left the vent on and the AC unit on, the entire room was damp and our towels were still wet 8 hours later. It was cold in Charleston, it had been cold for days and the humidity outside was very low. There should have been no reason to have condensation on the interior windows and a damp room with these weather conditions. The hotel staff even said there was a dehumidifier in the room…
Breakfast was stated on the hotel pricing, however, was unavailable “due to not having a restaurant and covid restrictions”. I can understand that, however, after reading the other comments it seems like the breakfast is lacking anyway. Upon arrival, I was told that the price had been reduced $50 per person per night for the lack of breakfast. Can a hotel without a restaurant charge $50 for breakfast?? What kind of cold continental breakfast costs $50? Per person??
The wifi sucked and barely worked.
The bed was uncomfortable and felt cheap.
Unfortunately our room was located next to the mechanical room, which was loud and vibrated all evening.
The door lock to secure the room was broken. We noticed after, being locked in the room for a few minutes, that the keyhole on the outside was damaged. We felt trapped in a room, and then after felt that our stuff was not secure because we couldn’t properly lock the door! A simple repair of $15 could solve this pretty easily.
Overall, a pretty disappointing experience for the price. If the room didn’t cost $430 for two nights, and then adding parking of $20/night on top of that, it may have been more justifiable. Felt like this establishment is all about the $$ without providing a pleasant stay :( It seems like the owner responds to all negative comments… reinvest into your property! It needs it.
EDIT 1:
Thanks for the response Elliott House Owner. Being humid outside doesn’t explain the overwhelming humidity within the room, after being told each room has a dehumidifier for that exact reason. We were gone for the whole day, and came back to a damp room, Our towels were still as wet as we left them, 8 hours before. We had to ask for new towels! You may want to service your dehumidifiers.
The locks can’t possibly be maintained all the time if ours was not operational.
Again; just put a little money back into the hotel. If you want to justify your high prices that is.
The point of this review is to improve your future guests stays. Not to explain how from your perspective, everything is...
