7/12/2025, I always come to Husk when I'm in Charleston! This time I only ordered a old fashioned drink, peel and eat shrimp, and dessert which was fried pound cake with corn ice cream and peach.
9/6/2024 Husk is a place I go every time I'm in Charleston!!! The menu changes and the food is ALWAYS delicious.
I ordered the tile fish, grilled oysters, biscuit, and the dragon punch to wash it down. As expected the fish was absolutely delicious!!!!! The biscuit was out of this world yummy!!! let me talk about the grilled oysters!
They were covered in cornbread and seasonings. These were interesting, different, but Delicious!!!!! I always recommend going to Husk!!! The food the service the atmosphere are Always wonderful!!! I look forward to returning to Husk next year!!!!
9/16/2023 finally made it back to Charleston and of course went to Husk! First we went to the bar area but they were no longer serving full menu so we fortunately were able to get a table on the porch. We had an hour wait but we had drinks and peel and eat shrimp which was absolutely delicious. I could of eaten 20 myself!
For dinner I ordered the oysters to start which were so delicious and the snapper and my sweetheart ordered the catfish. We shared the mixed greens salad that had apples and candied pecans. For dessert we ordered the peach pastry with butterscotch ice cream! As usual the service and food were both phenomenal! I’ll always come to Husk and always recommend this place!!
It’s been almost two years since my last visit and dining at Husk!! Finally made it back! 5/28/2021 (Newest photos at the very bottom) I try to make it to Husk every time I’m in Charleston! Dinner tonight was delicious as expected! The menu has changed and seemed smaller. I forgot to have dessert because I was so full!
I missed the delicious dinner rolls that I had last time! They need to bring those back!! This time I ordered the Heritage Pork with butter beans. I HATE beans with a passion but these were absolutely delicious!!!!
I believe anything can be good if it’s cooked right and those beans were a testament to that statement!! We also ordered the Artesian charcuterie board, heritage pork lettuce wraps, and the Deviled Pimento Cheese on Benne crackers. Out of the three appetizers we had the charcuterie board and the lettuce wraps were my favorite!
All three appetizers were delicious. The lettuce wrap needed more pork in it but they were tasty! Also ordered the Charleston Light Dragoon’s Punch which was good! I added more photos to this review. Hope you enjoy Husk as much as I do!! Make sure you get reservations! I’m going back for dessert before I leave this heavenly place!!! I’ll post photos of that too!!
11/30/2019 I went to Husk for lunch! Anytime that I’m in Charleston I stop here to eat! This is one of those places that anything on the menu is delicious!! I ordered the shrimp and grits and fried pickles as an appetizer. Also had the fried chicken and arugula salad.
The fried chicken was delicious as expected with a crispy flavorful exterior. It was a tad spicy too which made it even better!! The arugula salad had candied pecans, feta cheese, pickled fennel, with ginger honey vinaigrette dressing.
The shrimp and grits were the best in the city! I can’t explain how good it was, you just have to try it for yourself! The fried pickles were dipped in cornmeal and fried. It came with a dill sauce which was a perfect match. I washed it all down with a Blenheim Spicy Ginger Ale! I highly recommend this place! Thank me later!!!!
7/10/2021 stopped again at Husk and was able to get a seat at the bar! They now serve the full menu in the bar building which use to be a private residence. Ordered two appetizers, the roasted peppers, fried cornbread panzella, for dinner had the Heritage Pork and Atlantic Grouper both were delicious!
The roasted peppers appetizer was incredibly delicious!!!! Every time I go to Husk I try something new. This place never disappoints. My total bill was $175 but it’s worth...
Read moreAcclaimed Restaurant with a pretty price tag. A friend who has frequented Charleston highly recommended that I try (although the caveat was that I go with parents that’ll pay). Given that myself and my friends are strong, independent women, we had dinner on a Sunday night and had made the reservation for 7 pm (6 people). We waited outside on the porch while the table was getting prepared (all indoor seating). Service was nice but moved slowly (as expected in the South). Our waiter stated that everything on the menu was good so he wasn’t that helpful in recommending whether or not we ought to share dishes or just get our own entrees. We ended up just splitting some appetizers but ordering our own appetizers so at the end of the meal, we were stuffed. A summary of the food is as follows:
Cheddar Crackers - very tiny but big on flavor. The texture of the cracker reminded me of shredded wheat cereal and it was interesting to have a mousse-y cheese texture.
Oysters - One is my favorites. It was warm and the sauce was like a kewpie one.
Crispy fried quail - Comes in two pieces. Nicely fried and has a little kick.
House made pasta - I was a bit disappointed but it was still high quality pasta with good texture (cooked al dente).
Sweet and spicy glazed duck leg - has an XO sauce and is apparently Szechuan-inspired. It has 3 pork dumplings accompanying it, which were juicy and thick.
Cornbread - underwhelming - I preferred the free house bread rolls provided at the start of the meal.
NC Chicken - Solid choice but nothing out of the ordinary. It comes with rice.
Crispy catfish - came in two pieces and lightly breaded & fried.
Flat iron steak - recommended to be medium rare. The potatoes actually stole the show as they were very buttery and warm in a comforting way.
Dulce de leche cookies - came in 3. Reminds me of the Diddy Riese one. You could ask for a glass of milk to accompany it.
Chocolate cheesecake - extremely rich and it’s a heavy dessert. It’s on the more bitter side and the accompanying biscotti is surprisingly spicy (I liked its unexpected nature).
Apple tart - the ice cream on top was good - I’m not that much of an apple tart person but the friend who ordered it liked it a lot.
Drinks - The Papa holiday tasted like grapefruit, while the fist of berries has a licorice taste. The one love kombucha that’s a local brand was really good - a lot smoother than kombucha normally is, and on the sweet side (this one wasn’t hard).
There is a gender neutral restroom that accommodates wheelchair and has grab bar. WiFi is available for guests. It was almost $100 per person but luckily they do take card and let us split the bill evenly. Overall the food was solid and it’s cool seeing local ingredients get incorporated in a high end way. Come here for a special occasion or if you want...
Read moreDined here on August 13th for dinner, celebrating a special occasion. After looking forward to trying Husk for several years, a special visitor coming to town made it worthwhile to put in the effort. Husk's excellent reputation had expectations very high. The oyster appetizer was actually excellent, delivered to the table hot and fresh. Unfortunately, that was the only thing that came out of the kitchen either hot or fresh. The fried ribs were certainly okay, but nothing to write home about. The salad was also delivered at the appropriate temperature.
The kitchen was either having a bad day, or they have dropped any pretense of having standards. An order of hot tea came out of the kitchen with tepid rather than hot water- think a bath that needs more hot water and you'll know the approximate temperature. That was remedied fairly quickly, unfortunately the tepid water was a sign of everything else to come out of the kitchen.
We ordered the 30oz Ribeye, the Whole Fried Flounder, and as sides we ordered the grits with Tennessee Cheddar and the "Fresh" cornbread. Here we go:
The Ribeye came out room temperature, pre-sliced and dried out, as if it had been sitting around the kitchen for quite a while. When sent back for a warm-up, it came back on a very hot plate, but still room-temperature itself except for the part in direct contact with the plate. My dining partner wisely decided to throw in the towel on the steak. The Whole Fried Flounder- lukewarm when it hit the table, but even worse- much, much worse- it had been laid on a bed of rice, and then topped with a very wet vegetable mix. Yes, a potentially wonderfully crisp fried flounder soaked top and bottom to turn any crust into a slimy, soggy goo. I'm a half-assed home cook and even I know better than to soak a crispy crust in anything. Grits- well, the flavor was good, but would have been much better if it had been served hot and fresh, rather than room temperature and all set up. Cornbread- you guessed it, cold. This should have been the most embarrassing visual for them- fresh cornbread that did not even begin to melt the scoop of "butter" sitting on top of it.
I would like to think that this was just a bad day for the kitchen, and would love to hear from the owner and or manager if they are ware of these issues or not. At those prices, I cannot afford to gamble on dining there again. Nearly $300 before tip for a meal that did not approach the reputation of...
