My fiance recently purchased my engagement ring from an online jeweler. As beautiful as it was, unfortunately after just a couple of months of wearing it, the stone and halo portion separated from the frame/band. It was extremely fragile and I barely nicked it, causing it to break off.
After the online jeweler did not offer much help (we were hoping to have the frame/setting adjusted for more security vs. just having it "fixed" as we knew this was likely to happen again with the fragility of the metal and setting), we ventured into Brownlee Jewelers. Being newer to the area, we got so lucky that Brownlee ended up being the best thing that could have happened to us!
From day one, we worked with Donna who was extremely kind, honest and personable. Honesty really goes a long way when it comes to recommending jewelry options, especially for something like an engagement ring that you know you're going to be wearing for a very long time. She helped us pick out a new frame that would secure the center stone better and would be much sturdier. Three weeks after sending it off to be fixed, I had my ring back on my finger, and let me tell you, it is more beautiful than ever!!! It is absolutely stunning - I couldn't have asked for anything better, and I cannot stop looking at it. The diamonds on the sides of my band surrounding the center stone have such remarkable clarity. Thanks to Donna for all of her wonderful advice in helping us to get the best option and fix something that our original jeweler wasn't willing to do. Read moreI’d like to report the two white women that was working today 1/17 @ 2:55pm that was displayed discriminatory behavior as soon as I arrived to pick up a repair order that was completed. I arrived at the front door, rang the door bell and they told me they wouldn’t let me in unless I took my hat off. I was uncomfortable in doing so and explained to both of them that my hair is obviously not done so I have it on for a reason but you can clearly see my face and who I am in the cameras. This has never happened at any other visit I’ve had at this location and arrived with a hat on. I’ve also never seen these two before particular associates before today. That was shameful of them to have me do and to put me in such a petty predicament that could’ve been avoided.
Response to “store owner’s” comment below: Your policy should come with some discretion for the guests since this situation was not protecting me as a guest whatsoever. There was only one other guest in the store at the time of my arrival which was coincidentally a white man, which I’m sure they would've let enter if he had a hat on. Like I previously said, my face was blatantly visible but I was still discriminated against as if I was there to rob the store like you just mentioned in your scenario below (as if that scenario helps your case here). Read moreI went in to look at engagement rings and get a little info and guidance, as this is all foreign to me. I spoke with Bailey, and she gave me the insight and direction I was seeking. So with her help we narrowed down the cut, color, and clarity I was looking for. She then told me to come back later that week to look at some loose stones that fit the type was considering. A few days later I was watching beams of light sparkle off of three of the most beautiful diamonds I had ever seen. Now the hard part choosing one of them. After I chose came the next big hurdle, designing it. So many styles from claws or prongs, shank, shoulders, just the setting in general. To say I was clueless would be an understatement, then to my rescue came all of Bailey’s knowledge and expertise once again in helping me design the perfect ring. I swear it was like she’s best friends my fiancé. As uneducated as I was in the beginning she walked me through every detail and aspect, all the while ensuring that I wasn’t overwhelmed at any point and making sure I had a thorough understanding of it all. Extra points for her being a good teacher. Around a month after finalizing the design I got the call, it’s been made and at the store ready to be picked up.
