I gave it 2 stars because every other time I've been to Escape Tactic has been an awesome experience, but I had to leave a review to warn others. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THE AIRPLANE ROOM! Worst escape room from beginning to end. I won't give the name of our game master as it is possible she is just new and will improve with time and experience, but on this particular day, she kind of fumbled through the set up the story and referred to the airplane as Spirit airlines when everything in the room was clearly labeled with name of a different airline. Relatively minor but contributed to the overall difficulty of immersing oneself into the setting and storyline of the room. Adding to the difficulty was the absence of any background sound effects. It occurred to me that this was the first silent escape room I've been in. All other escape rooms have some sort of sound effect or background noise such as a thunder storm, birds chirping, a babbling brook or just something to add dimension to the totality of the experience. I actually did not really notice this until I noticed its absence in this room. The silence coupled with the visible wear and tear of its clearly aging puzzle cards and lack luster airplane decor made the environment feel more like an old closest than an Escape room. Perhaps the drone of an airplane engine or the sound of rushing wind would have been a nice effort. The decor, however, was not the most boring part of the room, or was it? Anyway, to make matters worse, all of the puzzles were also very, very boring. So boring in fact that our game master wasn't even interested in watching our game evidences by mag locks remained locked apparently waiting for our game master to notice that we had correctly solve a puzzle, one mag lock the released before before we finished solving the puzzle, and one occurrence where we had to yell for a hint 3 or 4 times before our game master chimed in and asked us if we needed help. We were literally like, "Can we get a hint, please?" "hello?" "Is any one out there?" "hello?" With no response. We had exhausted everything we could think of before we decided to ask for a hint so since we were completely stuck, we all just sat down in the airplane seats and watched our timer count down while we waited for our game master to notice we were calling her. I was pretty done after that and just wishing we had chosen ANY other Escape room in the Charlotte area. Speaking of timer counting down, our game master warned us at the beginning of our game, that the clock at the top of the room was slow and that once we got to the 3rd room, the timer on the "bomb" would display the actual amount of time we had left. We never made it to the third room, however, so we never really knew anything other than we couldn't really go by the only timer we could see. So as we watched the timer counting down, we just knew that we actually had less time left then was displayed, but we had no idea how much less time. Overall, The whole room just felt neglected, close to retirement and probably rarely used by those in the know. Not the first room we haven't made it out of, but definitely the first room we all wanted out of before time was even up. Not fun at all. Very disappointing and a real let down for our family day out. Luckily this was not my first escape room because if it had been, it likely would have also been my last, and I would have never known how fun escape rooms really can be. We all loved Amazon Survival even though we didn't beat the room and the Appalachian room which we beat with only seconds to spare is an absolute must! Awesome experiences. Great family fun and challenging which is why I expected so much more from the Airplane room. We will definitely be back to try King Tut's curse which my youngest son insisted we should have done in the first place, but the airplane escape room either needs a serious upgrade or to be put out...
Read moreUpdate to your reply: I did speak with Calvin the manager, and he was very kind, understanding, and apologetic and did say he reviewed the entire tape and could see when the game took a turn. I was about to update my review and take away the one star simply on how Calvin handled it. However due to your reply I will not be changing it. He did not say what you are saying. Ekho was with us for more than just the intro. He explained that he watched the whole tape and he could tell when the change occurred about midway through and thought there were multiple times where the game master should’ve stepped in. And there was NO reason Cassie should’ve been speaking to us the way that she did. I do not appreciate this reply as you are trying to stick up for Cassie after ALL three of us in our group said the same exact thing about her after walking out of the building, she was incredibly rude and ruined our experience. Calvin did not stick up for her. The three of us wouldn’t have all felt the same way if she wasn’t that way. Please do not try to make us feel like we are wrong for the way that she spoke to us. Terrible customer service. Management handled this greatly however this employee sure did not.
We have visited this escape room multiple times and have always had pleasant experiences but tonight that changed. (July 2nd) We started out with a game master named Echo and she was so sweet, very kind, and helpful. Our escape room started at 7:15 and had Echo to help for half of it. We immediately noticed when another girl took over. She didn’t tell us her name but she was VERY rude. Our whole group noticed right away when she took over. She acted irritated anytime we asked for a clue. The game masters make or break escape rooms. Towards the end we didn’t even feel like asking for clues because she basically made us feel dumb when we asked questions and she wouldn’t help explain what she was saying, instead she would just repeat the same thing over and over, making us feel dumb for not understanding. I wish we got her name but she had dark hair and was wearing a gray sweater/jacket. She was there at 8:15 pm and we only saw her and one other guy. So beware if you go here and have her as your game master. Game masters can make or break a room as my husband and I do escape rooms almost weekly for the last year or so. This was by far the worst experience we’ve had at an escape room. She was incredibly rude and unprofessional. The escape room we did was Flight 282. The escape room itself was great, very challenging and intriguing. But we can no longer recommend this place after what we...
Read moreBeen here twice now so will review for both experiences
1.Appalachian mountains room, did this with two other friends and was kinda outdoorsy themed, happened a little while ago so don’t remember too super much but had a good bit of more physical type puzzles I enjoyed, didn’t need more than one hint maybe and was fun for us would recommend
2.seal team room, this is their hardest room so makes sense it was a bit tougher, was a fun room with a puzzle that included smell elements but it was a bit more obscure where stuff went to what at times for us and when since there’s 3 separate rooms to this one while the first one only had 2 to that, we needed maybe 3-4 hints on this one but didn’t escape unfortunately but what takes a star off is that during the last 10ish minutes we got a remote for a tv so I tried turning on the tv but didn’t work after doing the ol pointing at it and spamming the on button from every direction then I asked our game master hey is this supposed to turn on, she asked me to repeat myself so I did but she instead said something about a puzzle that someone else was working on so we assumed that it just was intended like that I guess since she should be seeing what I’m doing and heard the question I asked presumably and left that alone, we tried finding the answer to one of the last couple puzzles but couldn’t and it’s obvious now why because you need the tv to do this one at all but once already failed they came in and showed us what was left, tried to turn on the tv and didn’t work because the batteries were the wrong way around in the remote
Overall it was a fun game place that I’d recommend over more conventional rooms like break out for example but was disappointed with the remote and not being answered probably they misheard or something but wasn’t offered anything for that mistake from them
Place is an open room style where you either pay more to book the room completely or just pay for your spots alone and see if other people join you possibly so be warned of that
Fair price for a room, had drinks though can’t take in room, provided lockers, staff was friendly it was just this one fault we had with the room...
