I have to give this hotel a one star because there was literally not even ONE good thing about this place.
We went to this hotel for my daughters birthday .. we weren’t looking for anything too fancy because we were only going to sleep there and drive home early the next day because we were going to Carowinds. This place was beyond terrible. I can’t give a full review because we were there less than 15 minutes and left.
First, when we got there, a dance school was checking in for 18 rooms and I waited over 45 minutes to get my room key because there was only one person working. The check in area was SO small and completely unorganized. I didn’t want to blame the person at the desk for 18 rooms being checked in so i chalked it up to my bad timing.
Then, when it was finally my time he gave me my room keys and I went to my room. I had two kids and my bf with me. We couldn’t get our room key to work so we went back down and he reswipped it and said it should work now. So we went back and it still wouldn’t work. So my boyfriend went and got him to come and do it himself and he had to shake the door handle and push and force it open. He then looked at us and said “eh, you know .. you gotta kinda play with it.”
I forgot to mention that while we were standing at the door waiting for the guy to come help, people were blasting music in the parking lot drinking from solo cups hollering “we in the trap.”
When we got in our room, it was atrocious. I’m pretty sure the floors weren’t vacuumed. I wouldn’t even put my kid down to crawl or walk. The comforter had cigarette burns in it. The shelf that was attached to the wall was literally hanging crooked like nothing could be set on it because it would slide right off or possibly just disconnect completely from the wall.
There were feces on the wall behind the toilet, trash and small shreds of toilet paper in the tub, a Capri sun straw wrapper in the sink, random wires hanging out of the wall, small pieces of trash on the floor, part of the walls didn’t connect to the ceiling, dirt and smudges on the mirror .. my daughter looked at me and said “I don’t know how much you paid for this room but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a good deal”. She’s 6.
We immediately asked for our money back and said we were leaving .. the front desk worker gave us a hard time and said no at first until my boyfriend started listing things off that were wrong. He then had to “inspect” our room before he would allow us to get a refund.
While he was in the office waiting to ask for a refund, one person came in saying their AC broke and two people complained their toilets weren’t working. While I was standing in the line waiting to check in at first (behind the party of 18 rooms) two people came in and said their room didn’t have towels and he said he didn’t have any more towels.
This hotel is terrible, poor management, low standards, extremely unclean, has a poster hanging that they got an 81% “B” rating for sanitation.
I would not recommend this hotel to ANYONE. I will never shop Hotwire or Expedia again because I made my decision based on third party reviews. I took pictures to share on my review but they will not upload. Spend an extra $20-40 and find a different hotel.
We packed our bags and drove through the night back home (exhausted .. after spending all day in the sun at a theme park with two kids) instead of...
Read moreMy mother booked a room for two nights for me, my sister, and herself so that we could be relatively close to the Carowinds amusement park. It was only 13 minutes away from the park, and it was cheap. However, I would not say that this hotel is worth the difficulties that occurred.
The first problem arose the first night. We had just gotten our room key and headed to the second floor. It was a long walk, which included a detour through a poorly ventilated staircase that smelled of either urine or mold; No elevator. When my mom opened the door and looked inside, she quickly closed it again. She said that she woke up someone who had been asleep in bed. Startled and confused, we headed away from the room. My sister and I waited at the end of the hallway while my mom went to the lobby again to tell the staff. A lady came to show us to a new room just down the hall. No guests were in this room, but we did have a cockroach in the bathroom!
Another problem happened the same night. We wished to use the printer so we could print out our park tickets. The website said that they might not accept tickets on mobile devices. The printer had to be plugged in to an outlet, the nearest already occupied by the lobby computer and monitor. I managed to awkwardly get the cord plugged in across the room, giving anyone who went up to use the computer inches of leg room.
After all that, the printer still didn't want to work. It was fairly old, not capable of connecting via WiFi. We already asked the front desk employees for help, but we were told that the manager would look at it shortly. No one bothered to show up.
It being 11PM, one worker had already exclaimed that she was done for the night and someone could deal with the issues. I guess that they had no consideration for the numerous customer service issues. Another family waiting in the lobby said that they had been booked for a room, but none were actually available when they arrived.
Apparently, my mother was told by the lady at the front desk that the general manager had no idea how to give out rooms and he had been in charge while she was on vacation. We also found out that another person had walked in to an occupied room on the same night.
The next morning, the lady at the front desk was asked about the printer. She told my mom to email the documents to the hotel and she could print them. But, she didn't know the email address, because she's the one who is in charge of refilling the breakfast items and was not trained to be behind the counter. Days Inn needs to seriously consider hiring a capable, knowledgeable person in charge.
The last problem occurred right after we returned from Carowinds. It had been a long 12 hour day. We were exhausted as we trudged up to the room. After my mom slipped the key card into the door, the light flashed orange and the door remained closed. Frustrated, my sister and I waited yet again for my mom to go to the lobby and obtain a working key card. The next morning, we went to have breakfast at 8:30, but there was just half a cup of coffee left, no creamer, and only enough waffle batter left for one of us.
Overall, I wasn't happy with my experience. My mother even more so. If you're reading this, then heed my warning: DO...
Read moreThe location is hard to find - behind the Mexican restaurant (there are signs for more parking for the restaurant- follow those - if you dare.
Apparently locals aren’t allowed to stay here. And all of the stores in the immediate area has armed security.
Stayed a couple of nights recently with two friends - we asked for a cot or additional blankets and were told there were none. Ok.
Some of the doors have a paper that says “exit only” and written.
No tv guide, no courtesy note pads or pens in the room. No “The things to do around here”. No dust skirts on the beds.
Bugs. Bugs. Bugs.
Growing up, Days Inn was my family’s go to hotel. Now I’m questioning my life choices.
Next night we decided to call the desk for additional blankets (last time we walked to the lobby). The phone didn’t even work. Picked up the receiver and had no sound. Dialing did nothing. Speaker button did nothing. Again, we went to the desk to find a different guy - he said he was going to go to the laundry and grab some blankets. He never came or calls. Well, I mean, not like he could call us. 🤷♂️
Did I mention the bugs? One friend saw a bug the first night on the bathroom floor and squashed it. I started to find more - and realized they were roaches.
Lamp shade had graffiti and was missing a bulb and the screw to hold it on. Curtain on the sliding glass door was torn. The plugs on the lamp didn’t work. The smoke detector was hanging out of the wall. There was a piece of stone countertop missing near the toilet. The carpet needs to be re-stretched. The metal bed frames weren’t bolted to the wall, and we’re leaving scars on the paint. The bathroom door and trim was grimy. The hallway reeked of smoke.
Roach poop on the wall and roaches trapped in the art work. Three bed pillows per bed - that were the size of throw pillows. Two bath towels for a room that sleeps four. Torn carpet. Moldy bathroom. I think you get the picture. But in case you didn’t, I attached some.
The first night, at past 11 PM, someone knocked on the room door trying to find the room that sells penicillin. The second night, quarter to 1 AM someone knocks asking if we want a $5 haircut. 👀😆
Never again would we stay here. Days Inn Couldn’t pay us any amount of money. One of the two friends stayed up the street for slightly more with way...
