Sooooooooooooo seeing all these 4 and 5 star reviews I'm very upset that I have to give this place 3 stars. I wish there were a 3.5. Unfortunately it is just not a 4.
Maybe it would have been that way my first time here but the second time really ruined that for me. My wife and I agree that we're still interested in coming back but this time around something was definitely off. Her food is too salty in my food didn't have enough salt.
The first time I came I had a flight and I like to some of the beers but I can't say I was in love with any of them. The second time I couldn't even find 5 beers that I was interested in to even get another flight. The one I did get was good but not great. This is truly sad for me because Victory Golden Monkey is one of my favorite beers ever.
When I came the first time I was trying to be semi good (and I didn't want a salad) so I got the heirloom BLT). It was absolutely delicious! Quality bacon and a delectable aioli sauce. Of course because I was trying to be good everyone else is real look amazing and I'm about to get it the next time I came. My friend sat next to me eating the Fried Chicken and another friend for the smoked wings. Of course I had to get them this time around.
The wings were smoked to perfection. The sauce is really good but again they could use some salt. The presentation was awesome but it was the same for the fried chicken. It also needed some salt. I had really high hopes for the jalapeno gravy, potatoes and broccolini was the only thing that didn't disappoint was the broccoli. It was roasted to perfection and very well seasoned.
My wife got the Buddha bowl but unfortunately she didn't know if kimchi was and it was super spicy. That is definitely not their fault. I love spicy food and the kimchi was delicious. They also have a kimchi burger and I think that is what I will try next time. The Buddha bowl came with grits, avocado, kimchi, and roasted the greens which were really good. The reason we got the wings was because she wasn't able to eat with kimchi as I she wasn't full afterwards. If you're looking to get this you should probably add some protein.
Though I wasn't over the moon about my beer my wife's really loved the Malbec that she got. The manager said it is their best selling red wine. After testing it myself I could see why. Additionally I was very surprised that they had a cocktail selection. Since I'm not fond of the beers that I've had their I'll probably try cocktail next time. Hopefully it'll be a better experience and I can...
Read moreWe’ve been coming here every couple of months for a while now. ever since moving here a couple of years ago this has been our favorite brewery. I’m not much of a drinker but I do love the feel of the place and the food is good. Theres so many in charlotte but this one had the best ambience. The foods good. I hate how in your face some restaurants are and this is chill.
Brewery’s aren’t really kid friendly because it’s not the main goal but this one does have more than a few kids during the lunch and dinner hours. And it’s nice because the noise level is good enough that it doesn’t bother. Ive been there with and without my kids. Today we went and knowing from past visits there’s no kid menu (it’s a brewery we didn’t expect one) and that chicken nuggets isn’t on the menu we bring our 4 year old nuggets (just 6 nuggets) so she can eat something while we eat. She won’t eat anything else and they didn’t have chicken strips plain here before, I saw it today that they had included them on the menu and are actually really good). Had I known I wouldn’t have had backup or read the menu before I gave them to her. As soon as we sit down and they get our drink order the “manager of this location” I think his name was Jerry comes by our table and tells us that outside food and beverages isn’t allowed and it’s ok this time but not the “next time”. His tone isn’t friendly really but not rude. We tell him we didn’t know and that now that we do we do it wont happen again.
But here’s the thing. The people next to us with their kid had snacks all over their table. The couple behind us had a drink they bought from where else. There were even some people further in with their Stanley looking drinks on the table. I asked the server in case the kid friendly snacks we saw next to us were sold at the kiosk by the door and he told us that no they were brought in. He was nice and I didnt say anything because servers take enough crap from people. But yet the manager didn’t go out of his way to tell the other people. Mostly this rant review is because we felt singled out. For no reason really, wont say it’s because we’re not white and everyone else was. We wont be going back which won’t matter to anyone at the end of the day but still. Kinda crappy.
If you’re going to enforce “rules” go for it. But at least be fair about it otherwise you look like a...
Read moreThis is by far one of my absolute favorite places to go in Charlotte! They're one of the most dog-friendly restaurants, they have a delicious menu that's updated regularly, an insane amount of drink options ranging from beers to ciders to liquor, a nice, laid-back atmosphere, and the service is next to none.
I have been here a ton of times and by now normally I would've had at least one bad experience, but not at 4001 Yancey!
When you walk into the restaurant, you're greeted by a gorgeous, bright open layout and extremely friendly staff. They promptly greet you and seat you and if it's slow will even let you pick your own spot! Then as the server approaches, they almost always are happy to give helpful drink recommendations and never once have they made me feel bad for asking for samples.
During one visit in particular, my waiter Zach went above and beyond during the visit and brought additional Bold Rock samples of brand new flavors (because they're a rare Bold Rock partner!!) along with the one I asked for simply because he thought I might enjoy it - and he was right! I ended up going with his recommendation.
I always bring my dog (even in the winter because they have a HEATED patio!!!) and my server will typically bring her water (& cuddles) without me even having to ask. Plus, they even have a DOG RUN in the back for the dogs to run around/play!!
They have literally thought of everything here and really go above and beyond and show true southern hospitality :) plus the food is delicious - I highly recommend their pizzas and tacos!!
If you end up here, whether it's for a couple beers with friends or for a full-blown family reunion dinner, I trust you'll have as great of an experience as...
