Although the staff there was very nice, my experience with my hair was unfortunately horrible. I went to the salon for a simple blowout which on their website it says is $55. However, when I got there they added on services which I knew nothing about and my total went from $55 to over $100, not to mention I was charged $65 for the blowout to begin with when the website says otherwise and all the extra services which they did not mention to me made the price even higher. Even though I was uninformed about the added cost for my experience I still paid, but I called about the price difference between their website and what I was charged. I gave the receptionist my phone number and other contact information and my call was never returned about the price difference. So basically they took an extra $10 from me on top of failing to notify me about the added cost associated with other services which was a protein treatment and a trim of my ends.I hadn’t had my hair straightened in such a long time that this was my first experience in over a year, and I was extremely upset with the results. My hair lasted only one day and it was extremely frizzy to the point where after wearing it in a ponytail for two days I just washed it so that it would go back to my natural curls. Three weeks later I went to another salon to get my hair straightened for my graduation. The stylist showed me where styles by Lisa completely missed a section of my hair that needed to be trimmed (keep in mind I was charged unknowingly for the trimming) and explained to me that the protein treatment I received was not adequate enough to seal my ends like it was supposed to. The stylist at this completely different business felt so bad for me and my experience at this place that she offered to fix the section of my hair that this place completely missed for free. It has been at least a week and a half since I got my hair straightened from this other stylist, and my hair still looks great. This lets me know that it was an error on the stylist at styles by Lisa’s behalf as I have used the same regimen for taking care of my hair at both places. I even wore my hair out in the humidity on Saturday and it still looks great! On a good note though, the stylist who did my hair at styles by Lisa was very nice and personable. I will just never return due to the experience with my bill and the fact that my hair barely...
Read moreHi Everyone. I, too, went and visited Styles by Lisa and was given the run down by Lisa of all of her natural hair experience. After a 3 hour visit, I left the salon with wet hair that was not what I asked for. I have a medium length super curly fro. I asked for a nice shape up..tapered along the back and sides. I wear my hair curly, so I typically get my hair cut dry. I went to the salon, explained the service that I was looking for and was assured that everything would be okay. My hair was shampooed and blown out, against my wishes. I was told that that was the only way to have my hair cut. My hair was a tangled mess after the shampoo and the young lady, Precious, who detangled my hair made the most disrespectful comments about how damaged and unhealthy my hair was. She yanked and pulled at my head and by the time it was over, there were handfuls of hair on the floor. I was sick to my stomach seeing all of the hair. Next, Lisa blew out my hair, using waaaayyyy too much heat. She then cut my hair. I explained that I wanted a tapered look. She had NO IDEA how to cut my curly hair. I left with a haircut that looked like I had a round helmet on my head. I was pissed. I initially trusted the stylist because, after all, she claimed to be a professional. After blowing out, I told her that I always wear my natural curls and never wear my hair blown out. She then took me back to the shampoo bowl and re-wet my hair and began raking some product through my hair. It took 45 minutes for her to apply the product. She then said I needed to sit under the dryer for 1.5 hours…ARE YOU SERIOUS? It has NEVER taken that long to do my hair. I eventually left after 30 minutes of sitting under the dryer. I went home, rinsed the product out and tried my best to salvage my hair. I WILL NEVER go back to that salon. The staff was unprofessional and so slow. Styles by Lisa=NEVER AGAIN. Oh, BTW, Lisa worked in the record business before deciding that she was a “natural hair care professional”. I should have thought twice after...
Read moreMy 1st time visit was 2 weeks ago. The salon decor is modern and clean. Prior to my scheduled appt, I did come in a for a consultation with the stylist. She was very pleasant and professional. She answered all my questions and calmed my fears, but she never touched my hair, and I found that to be odd. Then the big day comes... the Appointment! Now, just a few things I want to disclose before continuing with my review. I went “natural” abt 5 years ago. I haven’t had regular salon visits since going natural. My hair is frizzy and dry and I needed some real TLC. I knew I need a trim and I opted for a protein treatment as well. The shampoo tech did my wash, treatment and conditioner. She was nice, but she stated my treatment was for 15 mins, but I felt like I was only under the dryer for maybe 8 mins( I’ll put on my timer next time)??? I was then hand blown dried (by shampoo tech) and then seated with the stylist for my trim. In less than 10 mins, she was done, problem was that my hair was super uneven. I questioned what I could do because I needed my hair to have some type of symmetry. The stylist gave me a textbook definition of a trim versus a cut. ALL of my questions were answered in textbook terms. I kept asking follow up questions for clarity. Again, she seemed to be very knowledgeable, but I didn’t go to hair school, so I needed everyday regular people language. She did cut some more of my hair, for an additional charge, and I was satisfied. So I headed to check out and my bill was $60 + tip. Ummm, I left without any styling. A la carte pricing, even for the blow drying. So, maybe that’s the norm now, I’m not sure. I read through some of the other reviews and maybe I would have a different experience with another stylist. Not sure I would return, but I hope your experience is to your...
