For me there are two quintessential New England must do summer activities while visiting the town of Chatham:

1. Chatham Band concerts in the heart of town.

2. Cape Cod Baseball League - Chatham has the Anglers, who used to be known as the A's until 2008.

The Cape League is a the premiere summer league for college players from all over the country. It's truly an honor to get invited to play with this historical organization. According to Wiki, this league was founded in 1885 and in 2014 there were 265 Cape Cod alumni playing in MLB.

Some notable former Cape League players include Thurman Munson, Joe Girardi, Aaron Judge, Jacoby Elisbury, Kevin Youkilis, and Jason Varitek.

The games are free, but they have a 50/50 raffle at each one, merchandise such as hats and shirts are sold and local businesses also help sponsor this team.

There is a small lot near the field, so if that is filled you might wish to park in town in the public lots behind Ben Franklin.

Seating is bleacher style, but there are some grassy spots where you could put a folding beach chair. Nights on the Cape can be cool, so bringing a throw blanket or sweatshirt can be helpful. There is also a concession stand on premise selling snacks.

These games are truly a community event. The players are housed with volunteer host families for the duration of the season. Other individuals provide team meals for the players to eat after the games.

The season is fairly short, it only runs from mid-June through the first week of August. This is the perfect activity for baseball fans while vacationing on the Cape!
