Went for dinner on a week night.
The outside is set up nicely - 8 picnic tables spaced pretty far apart. 6 are under a huge covering while the last 2 have umbrellas. There's also some smaller tables on the small front deck.
Service was friendly. Menus are currently accessible through QR codes that can be found at each table, which I personally think is both the safest and smartest way of providing menus during covid. I just wish the drinks list also contained beer and wine lists.
I ordered the fish tacos. They were just ok. Too much slaw and fixins and not enough fish. It also lacked salt. I will say, though, that the fish was fried nicely and the lime crema on top was really tasty and probably the best part.
My girlfriend ordered the Thai inspired burger with the vegetarian patty, which she really enjoyed. I tried it and it was very good - the patty itself had an interesting curry/garam masala note to it; just very flavorful in general. Also, the sweet potato fries that she got with the burger are addictive - pretty perfect in both texture and flavor.
Overall, I wasn't impressed with what I ordered - it wasn't bad by any means - but everyone else I was with enjoyed their meals. Next time I'm craving a burger and fries, the Nun is definitely going to be a...
Read moreNice little restaurant/pub with a cozy setting. In the warmer months, they have outdoor seating too, which helps as the interior seating can get a bit crammed. The service is good and speedy in regards to the timing of your food being promptly delivered to your table. I say this because we only had an hour to spare for lunch on this occasion, we were impressed with how fast our food was made. The Thai burger is so good, not to be missed! And that peanut sauce they use could go well on anything. It was so delicious. I was able to substitute the beef meat for chicken instead, which was nice to have that option being a non beef eater. My spouse ordered the Nun Burger, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and it was huge. Both our meals came with fries, and honestly, I could have done without them easily. As the burgers could pass for full meals on their own. We left here feeling very full and satisfied and looking forward to sitting on their patio in warmer months to enjoy some...
Read moreWe went to the Red Nun in Chatham for the first time and I’m not sure what took us so long! The food was pub food fare done right. I had a cup of clam chowder, not the best I’ve ever had, but very good. Lots of clams in it. I also tried the Western Burger but with Ghost Pepper cheddar instead of Swiss. The burger was excellent. I could smell the char as soon as it arrived and it tasted like a grilled burger. Delicious. I had onion rings instead of fries and those were really good too though I tried my wife’s fries and they are a solid option as well. She had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and enjoyed it. It’s a fairly small place and I imagine in season it’s very busy. It was pretty busy when we went yesterday on the first day of March. If you are in the mood for pub food after strolling around Chatham, I would recommend it. We will definitely...
