Disappointed in this new establishment. Margaritas come without salt; no note on the menu, nor by the young woman taking our order at the counter. When they arrived at the table (after the food mind you), i was told "you need to ask for salt". Um no, that's the opposite, you need to ask for no salt...or the server should ask OR it should be on the menu. No offer to salt them, server just walked away. Two orders of "street" tacos and street corn arrived cold. We mentioned this, also no correction. The prices are way too high, to order at a counter and take a number to table (ala Mac's down the street). Nothing authentic about this place. No charm, no service, just a food group taking advantage of a location to charge way too much for food with no charm, service or atmosphere. For those of us that really know Mexican food this place is not it. *the owner responded but there is no option for me to respond. Vanja, I DID bring this to your staff's attention. I should not on my first visit, have to ask for a manager to voice simple concerns. Your staff is for that. The lovely server did directly walk back to the kitchen and came back and said she relayed the message. No one came out to the table. If you are not prepared to open, then charge a discounted price for your rocky, slow open. Namazu ramen did 15% for the first few weeks and I had stellar food, service and atmosphere there. It seems you put the blame back on patrons without taking...
Read moreA few neighbors had lackluster reviews of Codo, but we had to try it for ourselves. The bar for Mexican style food on the Cape is low, and unfortunately for us this did not raise that. Nothing tasted fresh. The food we received was bland and chewy, and I've seen other complaints about the guacamole and the hilariously defensive responses to marvel at the process of it being made daily. Maybe don't pulverize some of these batches into puree so it won't be so questionable, because sadly that's what we got too. The avocados from Stop & Shop this summer haven't been great, so I'd fully understand having to supplement, but "fresh" doesn't look or taste like this, no matter how many times the mgr swears by it. Service was good, the space is fun yet laid back and has potential, especially if you want to avoid the waits around town in the summer, but in our opinion the mediocrity isn't something we expected from a restaurant group that includes the iconic Pates and newish local fave The Cut. And before I'm scolded for not complaining on site, or my choice to leave this rating, maybe just do better?
*"the 2-star rating just over the guac feels a bit harsh". I stand by this review and hope you take something from it. Since the bland part was skipped over, to clarify, the entirety of the food we received was 1 star, the 2nd star was added because of the space, smiles, and wishful hope that...
Read moreThis place was awesome! You can really tell that whoever owns this place really wanted to create a great Mexican Restaurant that had a great atmosphere. My family and I loved the artwork and decour, it really created a party-vibe which was dope. As for the food itself, a little pricy but they give you A TON of food which definitely justifies the price. Compared to a lot of Mexican fast food (Chipotle, Taco Bell) this place's food is far superior. The service was good, everyone seemed very friendly and attentive. My family and I come to the Cape every summer and this place was probably the best Mexican food on the island. We will be coming back! Loved the vibes and the atmosphere, the place just was cool.
also, I read some of the negative reviews this place received. Not to say that my experience fully reflects everyone who ate here but some people need to calm down. Like the vegetarian burrito-margarita lady. (some people live to complain) I absolutely loved reading the owner's polite/passive aggressive slapback. I will be coming back...
