In the summer, Don Morse is very crowded. Its prime location in the heart of "downtown" Chelan makes it the most popular tourist spot in town. By noon the restrooms are filthy. By 4pm the trash cans are overflowing and the park is covered with litter. If you want to enjoy this park in "these uncertain times", you must arrive before 10am to get a weekend parking spot as once the lot is full, the park gates close. Easy access to boat and water toy rentals. Sandy, shallow beaches appropriate for all swimmers and water babies. Services of all types across the road - if you forgot/didn't bring anything from food and water to flip flops and trunks, you can get it all, at summer people prices, within a 5 min walk (and a 20-60 minute wait as the overburdened service folks struggle to accommodate their demanding guests). There are lots of beautiful beaches on the Columbia. If you want a more relaxed beach experience with a little more social distance, pack a picnic and try Beebe, Daroga, Lincoln Rock...
Read moreDon Morse Public City Park and Lake Chelan Beach Front across from Worldmark Lakehouse. I ALMOST hate giving the five star push because selfishly, I don't want anyone else flooding the zone! When I'm visiting lake Chelan I always find my way to Don Morse Park. The parking, beach front, clear blue water (also the warmest part of the massive lake), and family safety, make this a summer mecca. Chelan puts effort into ensuring the bathrooms are clean and the grounds ready for play, from volleyball to basketball and the right kind of amenities (except oddly missing a full public pickleball facility —which would be easy considering the aged tennis courts) one could call 5-star public access. I spent so much time SUP boarding at this location on my last visit, that I had sea legs for days. I hope they will keep making this Lake Chelan Diamond a place of...
Read moreFirst time visiting. My first impression was it was a nice park. Don't get me wrong. It is nice. But, the men's bathroom had no doors on the stalls. And it could have been better kept. The grass is kept well, but there are so many geese and ducks, there are piles of poop everywhere. The beach was in pretty good shape. Nice swimming area. A covered pavilion with tables. Could have had more tables spread out throughout the park. There is a putt putt course and a go cart track. Also, sand volleyball courts. We were there on a weekend. Saturday afternoon was busy. Sunday morning before noon was fairly sparsely occupied, which made for a good beach and playground experience. This park could be better with some maintenance issues taken care of. We did feel safe and didn't feel crowded. Overall a...
