WorldMark Chelan Lake House — Hotel in Chelan

DO NOT BOOK HERE, THEY ARE LIKELY TO CANCEL ON YOU WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT HELP! According to the manager, I was the 4th booking this WEEK she had to cancel last minute!||||My friends and I booked a suite to stay here, but got a call from the front desk at 6:15am the morning of our reservation to say they had overbooked and could not accommodate us. EXCUSE ME?! We booked nine months ahead of time to ensure we got a place with a kitchen and two separate sleeping areas on this specific weekend for an event. I also received a confirmation email one week before we were supposed to arrive. But we got dropped all the same, with ZERO warning and ZERO help.||||WorldMark couldn't find us another place to stay because Chelan is super busy (hence why we booked so far in advance!), and couldn't help in any way because they don't even handle their own reservations. The supervisor, Angel Colins, told me I was the FOURTH PERSON THIS WEEK she has had to do this to. That is outrageous.||||So I was forced to deal with the 3rd party booking agency used by WorldMark (Express Holiday), who said they would "Look for other accommodations and call back in 30 minutes." TWO HOURS LATER, I called them back and got some BS answer that they were "still looking," meanwhile my husband had found and booked the final hotel room in all of Chelan and Manson. Magically, this hotel room happened to be "the only one in the area in their database" so they were able to switch over our reservation. If there's a specific network of hotels they were supposed to be searching and this was the only one, how did they not find it in two hours? Very fishy.||||For all our trouble and our vastly downgraded room - we went from a 2 bed suite with full kitchen in downtown Chelan to a double queen hotel room in Manson - they refunded one night for us. Unbelievable. We should be fully refunded for going through this nightmare, nearly missing our vacation, finding the new hotel room for them, and taking a HUGE downgrade with no bedrooms and no kitchen, forcing us to spend extra money going out to eat.||||Whatever you do, do NOT book with WorldMark or anywhere through Express Holiday! There are lots of nice places to stay in Chelan, pick a different one because WorldMark is NOT a...

The location and amenities are great. There is a really nice club house with games, movies, and a pool. It is centrally located close to town, shops, restaurants, the city park with mini golf, go-carts, beach access, etc.

We are WorldMark owners and have stayed at many Worldmark resorts all over the west coast. This was my worst stay. We woke up the first morning to find tiny spiders in many of the corners and recessed lights. We notified management and they did a great job getting the room cleaned and sprayed but why didn't housekeeping get to this before there was a problem?! After the room was cleaned we were called and told our room was ready but there was no follow up after. Each day of our week long stay we were squishing tiny spiders that kept showing up. My in-laws had a room on the 2nd floor (we were on the 4th) and they didn't have any problems. I spoke to people across the hall and they didn't have any problems either. Then, mid-stay, we were awoken to the fire alarms going off at 2:30am. We evacuated, the fire department came, and after about 20 minutes, we were allowed back in. The next day there was absolutely no follow-up. Wouldn't it have been nice to have some notice about what happened? Some type of follow-up letting everyone know the building was fine would have been nice.

I'd like to give this resort another chance. The people in management seemed very nice and want to be helpful but I think they need to work on customer service.

Tips: there is a grocery store right next door but it is very small. They fry chicken every day and they don't have a good ventilation system. As a result, the entire store fills with greasy fried chicken smoke and the entire area, including that side of the resort, smells like chicken. You might want to bring a cooler with your own food. Also, most Worldmark resorts have grills on each balcony. This one doesn't but they do have three near the pool. They were easy to access and very clean. If you go in the hot summer months, be prepared for all the spider webs everywhere in Chelan. Not all the rooms have a view of the lake, but there are some nice views of the neighborhood and...

Buyer beware:

There is a chance your reservation will be cancelled...and they'll let you know DAY OF THE RESERVATION. Worldmark is booked through "Extra Holidays" booking service.

We booked our reservation half a year in advance because we knew the specific weekend would be packed in Chelan. We were stoked to get our spot. An awesome 2 bedroom right in town with a kitchen. We received the typical confirmation upon booking, and then we even got an additional confirmation of our booking within the same month.

But on the MORNING OF THE BOOKING we received a voicemail informing us that the hotel was overbooked, and we were being 'bumped' out of the hotel.

Oh - and they couldn't find a new reservation for us. (But they were still looking.)

for 2 hours they were "checking their network" in Chelan to see if they could find an open room. No luck.

Several hours passed.

Finally, out of desperation, I booked my own room with a different hotel. When I told the booking service ("Extra Holidays") that I booked a new room at a different hotel, they magically learned that the exact room I booked was the "Only one still available in their network"... so lucky for me I guess?...Because they were willing to cover the cost. (Unknown: what if there were no rooms? My party of four was completely out of luck?)

Anyway, our accommodation went from being a: "2 bedroom w/ kitchen in an excellent part of town" to a "single hotel room (2 queen beds) 25 minutes from the city of Chelan"

But hey, at least they comp'd us a SINGLE of our 4 night stay.

Buyer beware. Booking here does not mean that you actually get...
