Fantastic old theatre with a majority of its old charm intact! I randomly was able to met with a man who I think owns it? I didn't get his name because we went straight into a a midday tour for no reason at all except that he seems to be a nice person. The have a Wurlitzer organ and he did his best to describe it's functionality to me but I am not even going to try repeating it here because I think I was a lousy student and just didn't understand. Anyway, if you are from a place that has an old theatre (in my case the Hollywood in Portland) you will love it. I brought my son back in the evening to see Superpets. Current shows are mostly digital presentations I believe but they have a working 35mm when prints are available. The Wurlitzer is there but I think not currently functioning for performances, but worth a look through the window under the stage. Also some people have apparently gotten married there, which I would definitely do if that was an event I was planning! Balcony still in use, age 18 and above. Basic concessions available with solid popcorn. AC is cranking (love that)! Seats are comfortable and they have fold up and over "desk tops" You get historical photos of the area presented before the show...
Read moreThe theater is historic. I will give it that. The place is small and cozy. These are things they do well. My problem with the Ruby Theater ever since I was a kid has been this. Not all the seats in the theater are replaced with comfy seats for long viewing. The first few rows keep the old style harder seats. This causes discomfort when watching movies with long watch times. I have never really enjoyed sitting in these seats over the years going here. They only have one movie showing at a time over a week or two long period. This makes sense as the location is small, however, it becomes a place that you hardly want to go to instead of the cinema in Wenatchee because they don't always have a movie that you want to watch. I love the Ruby because of the memories it has given me over the years, but overall the place is not the best to go to if you are looking for a great movie...
Read moreI’m local - love the Ruby. We always try to go there when there are big screen movies in town. Went to see Jurassic World Friday. The music soundtrack couldn’t be heard unless there was no dialog or sound effects. When the big moment scenes come up, and even on end credits, you could barely hear it. Sounds effects and vocals were PLENTY loud. I alerted the owner, who said they couldn’t control music levels separate from sounds effects or vocals, which I get. I sat in back row to see if he would investigate my claim. Instead I could hear them talking in the foyer over the movie, mainly because there was no music in background as scenes unfolded.
I hope for the sake of patrons over the next week that he actually investigated and complained to the Distributor if indeed levels were that out of whack. I’m just not seeing any noise online about it so I doubt the issue...
