I can't comment on their work because they never got around to fixing my computer. I went in on Friday afternoon and left my computer with them over the weekend. They said they would call with a quote for me on Saturday, but they never did..no problem, it was the weekend. I call on Monday morning asking for my quote and get the runaround with a promise of a call back in hour with my quote...nothing. I call back that afternoon and get put on hold long enough that I actually drive down there, phone in hand and still on hold, and see them working on other projects. I ask about my computer and reiterate the urgency. Matt says he is very sorry -- nice guy by the way -- and he would order my part immediately and have it overnighted. That worked for me, and I asked to be kept updated because I really needed my computer for work. I call Tuesday to check on the status, and the lady at the front desk assures me that it is on its way and I will have my computer back by Wednesday. Wednesday around 5pm I get a call that they finally took a look at my computer and they weren't able to fix it.....several things wrong here. First off, they said they had already ordered the part and guaranteed me it would be ready by Wednesday, so I assumed that they had already taken a look at my computer prior to Wednesday...they had not. Second, they lied about ordering the part. I am not upset that they weren't able to fix it, I totally understand. I am upset on the communication and my time that they wasted. Lastly, they told me that the reason they couldn't fix my computer charging port was because the "ribbon" connecting to the motherboard was loose it was too risky for them to tamper with...I totally bought this excuse until I talked with the tech support at the manufacture who informed me that the charging port is not connected to the motherboard with a ribbon and, in fact, it is soldered straight to the motherboard. I told him the techs at Geek Garage had just looked at it, and in the most polite way possible he insinuated that they probably just didn't want to work on my computer. Now I am not saying that that is the case 100%, but it does sound awfully fishy. Anyhow, if you've read my rant up to this point, I would say that these guys appear to know what they are doing when it comes to smaller consumer electronics, but I would caution against letting them work on anything that you need urgently fixed. The quote they offered me for the supposed job they were helping me out was reasonable...but then again it never happened. I most definitely will not be...
Read moreTurned my computer in with the report that it would not boot and ran at 30 FPS. They replaced my case, AIO & reinstalled my operating system. Following this, they then called me and notified my PC was ready, when I arrived I inquired if a benchmark had been run, and if the PC was running properly. I was told yes, and I paid, picked up my PC and went on my way. When I returned home I booted the PC and everything worked fine. I downloaded one game and went to play, and the game ran at 30 FPS still, I was very disappointed, but I knew they would make it right. I reached out again, and after taking a little time to get in contact, I was told they were very sorry and wanted to make this right. I had driven all the way from Laramie (45 mins) to receive service from this business, and they took that seriously. When they found out there had been a mistake on their end, they drove from Cheyenne to Laramie to pickup my PC and take it back to their shop to further diagnose the issue. Upon further diagnosis, the tech Warren found out that the extension cable for my GPU vertical mount was causing the issues we were seeing (to absolutely no fault of their own, they use quality parts with warranties available). He ran multiple tests, and then gave me a series of options to choose how I wanted to solve the issue he detected. I am still waiting for my PC back, because they only picked it up yesterday, but this has been a very positive experience. Overall, I would recommend Geek Garage to anyone having any technological issues, and having worked with other IT companies here in Southern Wyoming, I know it can be a struggle to find good IT here. However, the Owner (Steve), the technicians and other staff at Geek Garage comprise THE BEST computer/IT company in...
Read moreI would like to thank the entire staff at the Geek Garage. About a week ago i was burdened with the problem that my external hard drive, (containing my last ten years of music recordings,) had been compromised. I had no idea what the problem was, so I reached out to the guys at Geek Garage for help. Upon the initial diagnosis the problem seemed to be minimal and an easy fix. Then I received the worst news possible. The data had a slim chance to be recovered by their shop, and they would eventually have to send it to a forensic data recovery company in Wisconsin. The worst news was that it could have costed me up to $1,200 to have the data recovered. My heart sank. The tech there assured me that they would do everything within their capability to help me out, and stated that it might just take a few days. I trusted them with my life's work, and they delivered. Earlier today i got the call that after hours of their hard work and diagnoses, the data had been safely recovered and transferred to a brand new terabyte. The best part is that it only set me back $100! Their prices are reasonable, their professionalism is unparalleled, and their knowledge is top-notch. I will recommend everyone I know to go to the Geek Garage from now on. They truly saved me from a lot of heartache. Thank you SO much! You have no idea how much this means to...
