We were really excited to try this place out and had high hopes based off many of the reviews. Unfortunately it wasn’t as good as we thought it would be. They did, however, have pretty good service. We were immediately greeted at the door and given instructions as we hopped in line. It’s your basic “order and pay, take a number to your table, have food delivered” type of restaurant. They had a lot of workers around helping with all manner of things—bussing, getting extra condiments , asking how they can help, etc.
As for the food: we ordered the peppercorn burger, the triple play, the towering inferno, onion rings, battered fried mushrooms, cookies and cream shake and strawberry cheesecake shake.
The onion rings and mushrooms came out after just a few minutes and were fresh and hot. The onions were definitely well cooked and very soft. Both of these starters had an odd flavor. We thought perhaps the oil hadn’t been switched out recently enough or perhaps it’s just the batter flavor? It just left a bad taste in our mouths though, literally. Ranch dipping sauce was good though!
The burgers were alright. The towering inferno said it would have onion straws, but it had an onion ring instead, and all of the flavors and textures kind of just melded together. The triple play slider-type burgers were nothing impressive. The peppercorn burger was pretty good for the first couple of bites, then the flavor fell flat. The blue cheese was strong enough to hide other flavors, and it just needed more flavor in general.
The fries were fine. Hubby and I aren’t really steak fries people, so take this worth whatever. The fries were fresh, but not really salty, and they were over cooked in my opinion. Very soft inside.
Kids and husband enjoyed the shakes. They packed them with Oreos and cheesecake chunks. They were very thin and almost frothy. They seemed a little watery/icy to me.
By way of information, there are no changing tables in the women’s bathroom, even though there is ample space in the large stall. Not awesome, as I had a baby with a poopy diaper—and it is a large establishment clearly trying to cater to larger groups and families, as well as small groups.
Also, we ate upstairs—and it was kind of odd that it was so dark. It wasn’t like a “low-lighting, cool ambiance” thing, it was better lit for parts of the floor, but where our table sat, it was very dark. That floor was less charming and put together, for sure—like, “oh, we need to make more seating, so let’s throw some stuff up there” look. Though the charm is less important, we would have liked to see the colors of our food better and just have a...
Read moreDuring our trip, we passed through Cheyenne and found this on the map, but in hindsight, that was a huge mistake. I ordered the salmon burger, but the salmon didn’t taste good. My friend ordered the steak sandwich, which was so tough it was nearly impossible to eat.
What upset me even more was that it was our first time traveling here, and we didn’t know that water was integrated into the drink machine. My friend and I mistakenly thought the insulated container held hot water, but it turned out to be tea. Just after we poured ourselves some and returned to our table, a tall female server immediately came over to tell us that it was tea, not water—but if we poured it out, there would be no charge. We apologized many times and immediately went back to pour out the tea.
But then a shorter female server, maybe the manager, brought us the check and insisted that we still had to pay for the drinks—even if we had poured them out. At that point, she even accused us of stealing the tea. Isn’t that word a bit too much? I was feeling apologetic at the time, so I didn’t argue and paid for the drinks since they were only $2.5 per person, which is cheap.
But now that I’m back at the hotel and thinking it over, I feel very upset about the way she spoke to us. We apologized multiple times and immediately poured the tea out—so why accuse us of stealing? And honestly, the tea didn’t even taste good—it was so watered down that we genuinely thought it was just hot water. Looking back, it felt like the shorter server might have been a bit racist. She treated us rudely and spoke to us harshly. So if you're from a minority background, all I can say is, hopefully, you won’t encounter her.
On the other hand, the tall server was very kind and respectful. She even came over a few more times to check on us. In the end, this restaurant left us with a bad experience—both in terms of food...
Read moreOrder a burger! Teasonable prices. This restaurant has its heart in the right place but has a few tweaks needed to get to the vibe. We were passing through on a motorcycle and wanted to not get fast food for lunch. I ordered the salmon salad and my dining companion ordered a burger plate. My salmon was dry, lettuce stale tasting, and the dressing was commercial. They must not move a lot of these because there was nothing recommending this dish. My companion's California (?) burger and fries were delicious, though, and he would give the place higher marks. About the service- it was a little odd. There seemed to be a cadre of volunteers helping this day, because from the moment we walked in the door we were offered "help." A kind woman didn't just hand us a menu, she offered to read it to us/explain it. Since it was loud, we decided we were OK just to peruse it ourselves. When we got to our table, we were asked within the first 5 minutes if we wanted soda refills about 3 times by various servers. This overly solicitousness continued throughout lunch. In self-defense I asked one of them to remove my glass from the table. A server ended up telling us an involved tale about his brother. . .we were asked our opinion of the food twice. I think the restaurant was shooting for friendly and professional service, but it felt more like bombardment. So, my advice, concentrate on the burger, and of you are a little lonely, this...
