Just took my kid here after we got out of the hospital (he ate a poisonous plant). I thought it was very interesting and insightful into the state’s history, but my son very much disagreed. He threw a ginormous hissy fit! I had to smack him in the head four times to get him to shut up! We went around the very impressive building. It looks amazing! I definitely do recommend coming here with just adults, as your kids might throw his fits that take a four-smack reset in order to put the kid in order.
However, there are a few things that I’d wish they could improve. One is the security. There was practically none! I’m from the ghetto in Virginia Beach and I lost my father in a car wreck at a Chipotle, so I might be a bit partial, but the security was awfully lax. I’d also like them to change their policy on disruptive children. My kid was so freaking loud, I’d definitely expect them to take him off my hands while I continue to look in the museum. They should have a day care. That would be great. These small improvements would make the State Capitol so...
Read moreOverall this was a 4.2 star trip, but google only allows a simple 1-5. If you’re in the area, check it out quick. Below are some pros and cons like usual.
Pros: Beautiful, the place has some amazing stained glass ceilings and simply stunning decor all throughout the building. Vast, the place has 3 floors with the best being the basement! Friendly greeting, a man gave us a quick rundown of the place and then directed us to a room which gave about 15 minutes of an explanation of everything. Occupancy, there were not a lot of people when we went today at 1:00pm ish and only came across one or two families! Parking was rather straightforward and easy to find. Free to enter! Cons: The man who greeted us said that the stairs decor was from Pennsylvania, but the video said Ohio. Confusing navigation, it’s hard to tell what rooms you’re allowed to go in and which ones you’re not. Other then the chambers and basement, not much to really see. Compared to Washington D.C., subpar in terms...
Read moreLoved this experience. Wife brought me into Cheyenne from fort Collins while visiting family. Got to check another state off my list and as we were driving in saw this amazing building. Stopped to take pictures and found out you could do a self-guided tour. The lady at the information desk was super helpful, absolutely wonderful, and a beacon of sunshine she and her just to go in to the offices that weren't in use and see the courts and where the representatives meet and all of it was absolutely amazing. To know that it had recently been restored and they had just opened a new exhibit for people on the bottom floor the week before made it feel really special. I loved the statues that they had around the rotunda and all the stained glass as well as the pictures in the corners of each of the large rooms representing the history of Wyoming. Best of all this is free It cost nothing and you learn a lot of history including seeing all the previous governors from their portraits hung...
