One upon a time this was the The Egg and I, and it was really good!
Then it turned into this …. And it was okay.
I recently moved back to Cheyenne after 25 years and remembered coming to this restaurant during infrequent vacations with family and always enjoyed what we ordered.
Since moving back four months ago I’ve gone to the Epic Egg for lunch and for breakfast. All I can really say is that both times the food reminded me of something poured out of a can and slopped on the plate and heated in the microwave. The food was bland, tasteless and basically inedible.
The coffee here is disgusting. The lunch trip I barely drank any of what was provided and just kept silent about how bad it was. This last trip for breakfast the coffee was extremely bitter and it took all I had not to spit out the first sip I took. I made the waitress take it back. She was pleasant but I don’t think she believed me when I told her the coffee was bitter. Of course she just blamed the coffee machine. This wasn’t a machine issue, it’s just bad coffee.
I don’t like to compare restaurants but I will in this instance. The majority of restaurants in the Pacific NW are above outstanding. They have to be or they will go out of business fast. The Epic Egg would have gone the way of the dinosaurs years ago if they ever had to compete with a really good restaurant. Their policy in not sitting customers until their entire party is present is one example of an archaic and just plain rude business tactic. It’s a passive aggressive form of controlling how people do business with them. It’s not done in most of the really good establishments I’ve frequented over the years. There is the exception of the really high end snob food establishments but then their food is good and you pay the price for it….
Anyway. I’m trying my best to go back and start reviewing other places we’ve been to as I seem to be lax in praising those worthy. This place is not worthy. I hope they change as I would like to go...
Read moreHello everyone, I went to the Epic Egg for lunch and had an amazing meal. Lets start with the cleanliness of the restaurant first. It was immaculate, the restrooms are very clean as well as the seating areas. The hostess greeted us with a smile that you could see from under the mask. Our waitress Brooke was friendly and knowledgeable of every item on the menu. I went with her recommendation of the Banana Split French Toast. It was absolutely an amazing dish, the french toast here is cooked the proper way with an amazing custard bath before cooking. And it doesnt stop, the banana on is cooked and place on the toast with vanilla creme and Nutella topped with pecans, whiped cream, and a cherry. I also had fluffy scrambled eggs with a great mix of cheese. The eggs were scrambled correctly and not folded with a piece of cheese on top... Big thank you to the chef, what a delicious meal. My coworker had the Wowzzer with Boss Bacon... another amazing meal. I tried the bacon and was blown away with taste. It had a bit of heat to the bacon but not overdone. The waffle was the perfect combination of crispy and soft with a buttery taste that would leave you begging for more. The service and attention from the our waitress Brooke was extremely attentive, never had to ask for a refill and was johnny on the spot with all condiments and any requests. Oh and the drink selections... wow please when you go here try the strawberry tea. It is sweetened the perfect amount and you can taste the fresh strawberries in it...very refreshing!! Brooke also told us how everything is made fresh daily and how hardly anything comes out of the can... it is so fresh you can instantly taste the difference. The Epic Egg will be my new lunch and breakfast spot. A special THANK YOU to all the people that make this place great. Stop reading this and get to the...
Read moreAt first I was super excited and wondered why we hadn't eaten breakfast here all week. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and I wanted to try everything. We met some friends here as a party of 8 and was seated right away by the hostess. Our waitress was super patient with everyone's kids as we ordered. From sitting to starting to get our food it took 50mins. The most time consuming food item to prepare was an omelette. The pancakes and omelet look delicious. The potatoes were good. My wife's French kiss French toast was nothing more than regular French toast. My biscuits gravy, potatoes and eggs were cold, my wife's side eggs were Luke warm, and my friends kids eggs were ice cold. Our waitress apologized saying something about it being cold outside and food sitting under an exhaust vent. Kids eggs came out right away and I waited another 20min for my order. To pay you have to go back up front. When we were given our checks our waitress disappeared. We had to flag someone down to get to go boxes and decided not to even bother asking for a refill on water. Ended up almost 60 dollars...
