If I had a typical kid, I would give this place 5 stars. My child is on the spectrum and we went thinking the "sensory room" would be fun for him. Unfortunately, it wasn't a sensory room. I appreciate the efforts but no one was whispering, kids were screaming, adults were talking at near regular volume about their work mates. I almost cried. I actually had to tell a mom my son was autistic and was terrified of clapping because she was yelling yay and clapping for her kid in the ball pit. I was fuming. I understand regular kids will have an extremely difficult time being quiet and so that will pretty much negate the usage fo this room as sensory friendly unless is it regulated. It was shocking to me that adults were so unaware of the intended purpose of this room. Paint some giant "whisper!" on those blank walls because the signs on the wall before you enter, and the small sign before you enter the ball pit are NOT working, or just give up on the idea that this is a place where kids with sensory processing disorder can come for some respite. My partner does sound and says the rooms could also benefit from some sound deadening material. The place is probably a blast for regular kids without hurdles to overcome in public places, but I kinda left feeling like I was a victim of false advertising and realizing how unaware people are of "invisible" disabilites, even though my son was covering his ears and leaving the room every time a parent or kid would get loud. They just...
Read moreWe took our 5 year old grandson to this Museum on St Patricks Day. We had never been before and weren't quite sure what to expect. The Museum is a storefront with plenty of spaces and the children were allowed to run and explore safely. The Treetops and Spaceship exhibit were his favorites. Buttons and computer type graphics were on hand in a darkened space and he was beyond excited to pretend he was a space pilot. Other exhibits include a dentist, a veterinarian office, a grocery, a camping scenario, a Cafe, some Fireman's equipment and a barn yard with stuffed animals. In the back of the space was a very cool vacuum machine that sucked up scarves which you could watch move through a series if tube before the scarf was expelled and floated down into waiting hands. The Museum might seem pricy to some but there was no time limit on how long you could stay and there were lots of benches for tired Grandmoms to sit upon! A lot of dining places were nearby and the parking meters were way cheaper than in San Francisco at .25 per half hour. A cool park was nearby and the huge sculptured hands were a fun photo shoot. We want to go...
Read moreIt wasn't a museum like I was expecting per se, more like a big play house. The tree house/ slide with the "space ship cockpit" thing at the top was definitely the highlight for my 2 kids. The sensory dark room in the back was an amazing thing to see. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who has a little time to burn (an hour or 2) with kids under the age of 8. But it's nothing to make a day out of. It is kinda weird on the price though. I think it was 12 dollars a piece for 2 6 year olds and 2 adults. There's nothing for adults to do, so charging for adults, who are there for their for their children is kinda a double charge, I think, I mean, it's not like the kids can go without adults. Regardless, kids had fun. Good way to spend a few hours on a...
