I made a reservation 2 weeks ago by phone to Motel 6 where I would use 2 guest certificates (that I received as a B-day Gift and we couldnt use due to Covid). The reservation was made knowingly that we were using certificates and they told me to bring them or they could charge me. We arrived at the Hotel after a long drive and once we were asked for name and reservation, the receptionist informed me she needs to call the manager as she didnt know how to use the certificate. She did call her but the manager stated she needed to be there and didnt want to go and for that reason she should send me to another place. While I was listing to this I told the receptionist that some else should know how to do it as I booked 2 weeks in advance but the receptionist said that Motel 6 were bought and now they are a franchise so things changed since a month ago and that I shouldn't have waited last minute to book as my certificates will expire next week. I got upset and told her that it wasnt her business to tell me when to book (their attitude lead me to get there) and I asked to speak to the manager. She said the manager was off and that she could only send me to one near by. I accepted but there were no rooms available and the other place didn't allow us to use 2 certificates per night. The receptionist called the manager and they decided to canceled my reservation without my approval and left me in the lobby without saying anything to me. A couple of minutes after I asked what I was waiting for, they ignored me. I asked the other receptionist there (a guy who I had not heard speaking) and he ignored me too. I asked him if he spoke English and he said yes, but the manager told them to ignore us and to cancel the reservation, at that time I was informed they canceled. I asked them for their names and manager numbers and they kept ignoring me and it was very frustrating. I asked for my receipt showing the cancelation as they had my credit card and they gave me a receipt showing how much each room cost and it didnt say zero balance so I asked again to give me the corrected receipt as they canceled and it was not my fault but they ignored me. I was at this point super upset and I slid the paper under the window and told them to put in writing that my balance was zero but they said no. I asked for their names and they didnt want to provide their names. After back and forth between them and I, she said her name was Jasmine and the Manager was Tracy. Another employee showed up and he tried to help us until Jasmine said the manager told them to completely ignore us. I asked them 3 times to call the police and they didnt. Finally that worker gave us corporate number and I called them. I was giving them the information of the situation (very nice lady that took our call), she apologized and stated that wasnt their standards and put me on hold for a little. The Manager arrived, without introducing herself and asking us to leave as we were contaminating the space for being there for over 5 mnts(took around 30 mnts for her to show) meanwhile she wasnt wearing a mask. She just said "leave the premises as this is my hotel and you are not welcome". My son asked her to please wear a mask and she said no as she was the owner and got very close to us without respecting the 6 feet rule. I asked my son to call the police as she got so close to me and while I asked her to please give me my space, it was worse, she started coughing in my face and provoked me while the person from coorporation was typing our back and forth conversation. The now "Owner" told their workers that I was a "Stupid person with no education as I didnt know how to read the receipt" so I asked her if she called me ignorant (as I couldn't believe she said stupid) and she said "No I called you stupid" so I asked her to please give me my zero balance receipt and she continued to get closer, screamimg at us to get out of her property.Not...
Read moreWe drove up to our hotel room and worried about the bikers 2 doors down from us. We walked into our hotel room and we were greeted by a roach when we turned the lights on and it ran behind the dresser. The bikers talked as loud as their motorcycles but we hoped they would drive off soon. We unpacked and saw a roach on the wall run under the air conditioner and another on the curtain as we closed the curtains.
We talked about leaving but didn’t want to worry about checking out-and-in at another place since we were traveling and visiting someone in the hospital. We couldn't unpack due to more bugs on the bathroom walls. We climbed in bed at 11pm and attempted to sleep on the single spring loaded mattress. At midnight more bikers road through and talked, placed loud music, and argued. We decided to turn on the A/C to drown out the noise. At 1am dogs, which we were told by the front desk person were not allowed on site, were heard barking and fighting with each other. It sounded like dog fights were a segment of the evening. I turned the light on to call the front desk, but our room did not have a phone.
At 2am, children were heard running up and down the hallways as well as music blasting. By 3am, there were more motorcycles driving up and down and revving their motors. By 4am, people were arguing and as I looked out the window using a metal hanger in the hotel since I worried about getting bugs on me, I could see 2 sets of people on either side of our corner hotel working on their cars with the hood up. They were yelling and dropping tools on the ground. At this point, we decided to also turn on the bathroom fan light. We closed the door for the light but wanted to fan and A/C to help drown out the noise.
As for our bed, besides sleeping on a single mattress for the first time in my life, the beds made a vibrating sound like pipes were being dropped and rolled around. I think we finally fell asleep at 5am and woke up at 7am to leave for the hospital again. My 75 year old mother woke up first to get ready. She said she had to kill 5 roaches in the bathroom. She worried that they were all babies and their parents were somewhere close by. When she used the wastebasket she noticed that the trash bag was not pushed down all the way. As she tried to push it down with her hand, she saw something underneath it. She removed the trash bag and underneath the trash bag was another trash bag filled with trash that was never removed.
When I woke up at 7, I showered and the water volume and pressure was good. However, the showerhead was at about 5 feet tall which can be difficult for most people over 5ft. At least when it was time to leave, the place was quiet. As I drove to the front desk, I saw a sign above the parking lot that said, we are not responsible for damage and theft to your vehicle. I was grateful nothing had happened to our vehicle. I drove to the front desk to ask for a refund for the second night because we would not be staying another night due to deplorable conditions. He said the manager was not present but would give a refund for the 2nd night. I said, but I’m going to leave here and you won’t give it to me. He said, yes, l am sorry for the night you had but I promise you will get your refund for room 136 and my name...
Read moreI stayed here for 9 days for business in June 2025, room 108 on the ground floor. I admit being initially hesitant, having read reviews previously not just for this motel but for many others nearby, and overall really didn't like what I was reading; transients, druggies, and other very sketchy elements, poorly maintained rooms, partying & noise all night, again not for Motel 6 but just the general vibe of the area. But I had to stay somewhere, so took a chance & drove to motel, arriving on a Saturday around 7pm. I would have preferred the 2nd floor, but was told the only rooms with a fridge were on the ground floor, so went with that. Front desk staff were cordial & friendly, check in was quick & easy. On opening my door & entering, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was spotless, in fact it looked like it had been recently renovated, the bathroom & shower (always a dodgy thing in motels) were similarly spotless & free of any damage. I really couldn't find anything negative about the room, the lone exception being there was not even one towel anywhere. A trip to the front desk yielded one very small towel, they had no more at the time to give me. Luckily I carry my own towels, but I was concerned about possibly being charged for towels, but staff assured me that wouldn't be the case. Taking a shower I was surprised by the almost unbelievably strong water pressure, unheard of in California lol. The lone negative was the pitiful & sporadic wifi, I ended up burning my own data on my phone 90% of the time, constantly losing signal on the motel wifi, really poor. I asked the desk if there were a payment option for stronger wifi but was told there was not. In the 9 days I stayed there was no housekeeping service whatsoever, and the front desk told me the housekeeping did not enter any occupied rooms at all. For me I actually prefer that, other travelers may not. While the homeless & druggies element were certainly noticed in the general area, like everywhere else these days, I had no issues at all within the motel property. No parties that I could hear, everything was quiet throughout my stay. If you enjoy eating out or fast food, this will be heaven for you lol. There is a McD's 50 feet away, and an AMPM next to it. Dennys, Wendys, and literally dozens of other eateries abound, all within a 5-10 minute walk. The terrible wifi stops me from giving a full 5 stars, but other than that I couldn't have been more satisfied, I have stayed in motel/hotels hundreds of times in my travels, and this was one of the better ones for sure. When I conveyed my satisfaction to the stocky gent with the thick framed glasses, he thanked me & put his hand over his heart, so I'm assuming he's the owner, & it's obvious he cares. Kinda rare these...
