Qlicious Bubble Tea & Pastries (OTR) — Attraction in Cincinnati

if you’re a fan of good boba or fresh desserts, this is probably not the place to go. as someone who loves the classic brown sugar + tapioca boba milk tea combo, it’s a major red flag when a store can’t get this right. to put some context around my experience, i went in with (admittedly) high hopes—i saw ads for qlicious on doordash of all places, and all the photos seemed super nice. in a way i suppose that was naive of me because i went in the store one day on a whim, my experience was a lot different. i got a piece of their crepe cake and the aforementioned boba. while i can’t be certain on the timeline of the crepe cake, what i was given looked visibly old. the crepes and creme layers had merged into one texture and there was separation between them. in other words, they had me pay $13 for a slice of crepe cake that (imo) wasn’t fresh. there are many good bakeries in cincy. while i can say i’m disappointed when i stop by a bakery to see they’re sold out, as a customer i always prefer getting fresh goods at a high price, or maybe paying a lower price for old ones, than paying for bad quality or old product. its just good business. back to the boba though, this was the true disappointment. i’ve had my fair share of bad boba. i can say with certainty that the boba served here was the worst i’ve had—cold, flavorless, oblong (this really threw me), and with the texture of a old jam rather that the typical chewy. the whole experience was a major disappointment so if you had $20 to spend on boba and a pastry, do yourself a favor and go...

So, I am a boba lover. I have tried boba from all the way to nyc to Chicago to LA to other countries too. My go to place is Owl tea at Clifton but since qlicious is quite near to my place I’m one of their frequent customers. I have been ordering from them a lot. I don’t ever have complaints from taro slush because it’s right everytime but I do have some problems with the rest. First, I ordered a taro tea and was so disappointed to see how more than half the cup was filled with ice, this picture above was taken after I finished my drink so some of the had already diluted but still the amount of ice was crazy to me but I let it slide because I didn’t want to cause a big deal until today. I went in and asked if she could make me lychee slush instead of lychee fruit tea they have (I had done the same at owl tea where I asked them if they could experiment and make me green apple slush and they did, they even updated their menu and put the green apple slush to the menu which is so good to know because that made me think they actually cared about their customers). Anyways, she agreed with $1 extra charge and I was fine with that. The drink was pretty quick but the taste and quality of the drink was -3/10. I know what a slush is and how it should taste like. The reason I asked for slush was because I knew too much ice would block me from enjoying my boba. The drink was grainy, ice wasn’t blended properly and the texture was so weird. Qlicious is an absolute gem of a bubble tea and pastry shop! Yuki, the staff member who helped us, was exceptionally friendly, hospitable, and radiated joy. Her genuine focus on customer satisfaction made our visit extra special. We tried three incredible beverages: a crème brûlée boba drink, a mango smoothie with lychee jelly, and a hot taro drink. The taro drink was so amazing, it even outshone the already delicious drinks my son and I ordered.

We also sampled the Japanese cheesecake, and I have to say—it’s better than Uncle Tetsu’s! That’s just my opinion, but the rich, creamy texture and delicate flavor were absolutely divine.

If you’re looking for fantastic drinks, delectable desserts, and stellar service, Qlicious is the place to be. Yuki and the team make it a 10/10 experience. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend...
