My husband and I were married here in May by Deacon Walter. Even though my husband is Jewish, Deacon Walter could not have been more welcoming and offered to put us in touch with a rabbi so we could have an interfaith service. This is a very historic church with great architecture. After moving to Albany and attended several other catholic churches in the area, I settled to worship with this one. Ash Wednesday mass was over. The father still blessed and gave me ashes 20 minutes after mass and told me what to read from the mass book for the day that was in the pew. Also I found a pocketbook left from someone who came to the mass earlier and he took it away to secure it. I witnessed the blessing 2 other people that came in while I was reading the mass.
