I wanted to share my experience regarding the tattoo I received from Jerra on Sunday, December 1st. Unfortunately, I am deeply unhappy with the result and feel that I did not fully consent to the design that is now permanently on my body.
Before the stencil was applied, I expressed concerns and requested time to think about changes I wanted to make to the design. I reiterated multiple times that the design didn’t align with my vision and needed time to process the adjustments. Despite this, I felt pressured to move forward, with repeated assurances that it would “look good.”
I also made it clear that I didn’t want the tattoo to be so dark or large, specifically asking to avoid a blackout look. While Jerra assured me it wouldn’t turn out that way, the final result completely disregarded my wishes. Throughout the session, I expressed my concerns and asked questions, but they were dismissed with instructions to “trust the process.”
To make matters worse, Jerra was late to our appointment. She claimed she had been preparing for the session, but I later saw her posting selfies on her Instagram story during the time I was waiting. This made me feel even less respected as a client.
Worse, elements of the stencil I explicitly said I didn’t want were included without my consent. This completely went against what I had communicated through emails, Zoom, and in-person consultations. I wanted to build upon my existing pieces—not completely black them out.
I understand that artists have their creative vision, but this is my body, and I feel like I was treated as a canvas for an experiment rather than a client with autonomy. The experience was distressing and overwhelming, leaving me feeling powerless as my concerns were ignored.
When I brought up my dissatisfaction during and after the session, Jerra refused to take responsibility and instead tried to gaslight me, making it seem as though my concerns weren’t valid. She wouldn’t even apologize for the distress she caused me.
Ultimately, I left halfway through the session, shaken and heartbroken. Even then, I was urged to finish, with concerns voiced about Jerra’s reputation rather than the impact on me. While I understand her perspective, I am the one who has to live with this tattoo, not her.
I paid $1,200 for a piece I didn’t consent to and now face the additional burden of expensive laser removal. I’ve struggled with eating, sleeping, and focusing since this experience, and it has caused me significant emotional distress. The tattoo also ruined the art I had been carefully building for years.
This feedback may not mean much to Jerra, as it feels like her artistic vision and reputation took precedence over her client’s wishes. However, I hope it helps others understand my experience and the potential risks of...

Read moreI HIGHLY recommend Laura and Distortion Society! Not only is Laura incredibly talented, she is also very kind, patient, and professional. It's been a while since I've had a big piece done, so I felt like a newbie but Laura was fantastic throughout. When I arrived, we talked about ideas and what I was looking for. Then she took her time to draw me a couple custom options, both were gorgeous and it was hard to decide. Just cover my whole body in flowers, please. She made sure to then give ME time to sit with it and think about if I wanted any changes. We tweaked a couple things, and I never felt rushed at all to make decisions, and I could tell she genuinely wanted to make sure I loved it 100% before we started the tattooing. I felt very safe the entire time, the studio was super clean, and Laura let me take breaks when I needed to during the actual tattooing. Needless to say, I LOVE the...
