Epic Fall Campervan Weekend

UPDATE: SATURDAY, APRIL 15, 2023, 5:52PM: Offhand, I have not noticed any changes, either major ones or minor ones. The baked goods remain delicious, as well as the beverages, especially my beloved Dirty Chai Latte. UPDATE: SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2022, 10:55PM: The coffee remains very good, the service remains wonderful, and the treats remain super delicious. If they raised their prices, I could not tell. Of course their Divine Dirty Chai Latte remains my personal favorite beverage. Hot, of course. Full disclosure: originally, I was going to have a light breakfast at Kitchen Sink, but they were closed until 5PM that Saturday, June 9, 2018; the sign on the door read "Closed,"but the door was unlocked. So, I went to Bank Square Coffeehouse which was close by, had plenty of seating and super delicious coffee and pastries. I was able to enjoy my medium coffee and my blueberry muffin, and charge my phone, too, using a nearby outlet. The prices are quite reasonable, too. Also, there is additional seating, next door, as well as outdoor seating, and a bathroom, as well. I look forward to returning to Bank Square Coffeehouse the next time I visit Beacon, New York. Since I first submitted this review, Kitchen Sink has closed permanently, but I did go once for dinner, but my friend was like, "let me treat you someplace better," and Bank Square Coffeehouse is still going strong. The service remains fast and friendly, and I think increased a bit, but not by much. And I visited three times on Friday, February 18, 2022. What does that tell you?!

I have been coming to Bank Sq. almost daily for years, by and large it used to be my go-to spot. Lately, the owners have really let this shop fall by the wayside. A general level of dirty walls, the bathroom, and just generally worn. This hasn't bothered me too much, but the lack of any heat in the winter has made my daily stay here unbearable. 53º indoors is really unacceptable for not only myself, but the friendly staff that always works hard here. I often find myself going home to be in heat rather than staying and giving more business during lunch. Unfortunately, this isn't the case for the staff who has no choice but to work in 50 degree indoor temps. Given their 3 locations, keeping their flagship coffee shop in this safe isn't acceptable. Happy to remove this review once the owners step up and fix the heat.

LOVED THE HOT CHOCOLATE and personally had no issues

HOWEVER.

Walked in on Sunday Jan 23 in the late afternoon. What bothered me and I feel is an important to mention is how to treat people during this pandemic.

A woman walked in without a mask, while it is understood for most that this is a law we can all relate to a broken mask or forgetting etc. Not wearing a mask doesn't warrant someone not only refusing service but being completely disrespectful doing it. If you believe refusing service is good business... just a suggestion it would make sense to have a stack of masks behind your register especially for someone whose mask may have broken in your shop, with people pulling masks on/ off drinking coffee.

The woman said she just came into town from Florida and didn't realize, rather than offering any level of accommodation, possibly taking her order outside or being kind she was met with hostility.

I was scrambling to find a spare but I didn't have one.

It was hard to watch 2 double masked girls completely dismiss this woman. A level of authority that should never be warranted to a barista.. the argument alone took longer than preparing a cup of coffee.

The worst thing is when this woman left the two baristas made fun of her to end... it was really disgusting as an outsider to watch.

This pandemic as cautious as you want to be doesn't justify being nasty.

The store manager needs to take a hard look at this behavior.

I couldn't stop thinking about this and had to write this review.

Just be kind/ keep a stack of extra masks let's keep people together not tear...

I'm not sure what the problem is, but the morning rush is abysmal. And it's only gotten worse. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited until my 3rd poor interaction to write the review.

But, oh my, the "baristas" in the morning move slower than the sloths from Zootopia. Their method of dealing with long lines is to:

Ask for the order from one individual. Ring that same individual out. Make the drink in the slowest way possible. Call out the order. And then rinse and repeat.

Now, I know what you're saying, "How is that poor service?"

Well, it wouldn't be so bad if it was just one person, but there are usually 2 people behind the counter. The second person is more often just the spectator. Which is baffling.

Wouldn't you think it would be more efficient to have one person working the register, taking a few of the orders down, while the other one makes/prepares the drinks?

Morning rushes are mostly plain, black coffee orders, so why is there a hold up? Why is there such a long line? It had gotten so bad one time that people ended up leaving because the wait was obnoxious. I'm half tempted to help the line and make the drinks myself, but I don't think they'd allow that.

Anywho, I'm simply disappointed. It was nice having somewhere that's convenient in the morning. But at this point, it's faster to get gas station coffee. At least it's consistent and quick, albeit cheap.

Maybe the afternoon or evening is better. Just don't go in...
