Noble Pies is a welcome addition to Main Street. It's unique to the area, offers quite a few options that everyone can choose from, and even has a nice and cozy seating area for enjoying your selections in-store.
I picked up a frozen Cubano mini pie(to re-heat later), an off the shelf Apple Pie with crumb crust(also to re-heat) , and 1 slice of the refrigerated Dirt Chocolate cream pie.
The Cubano was a very unique savory pie option that I'm glad I tried. I've never come across anything like it. All flavors were well balanced and the traditional crust was flakey, buttery, and great. The one suggestion I'd add is to maybe cut the pieces of meat a bit smaller. I love how much of it was in the pie, but the large pieces of it were tough to enjoy with all other ingredients in a single bite.
The Apple Pie with Crumb crust was again, very balanced. Not too watery on the inside from the apples, but still moist. The oats in the crumb topping adds a nice texture complement to the rest of the softer ingredients. Personally, I think the crumb topping would've benefitted from a touch more cinnamon sugar, but that's the fat American in me talking.
The Chocolate cream pie had a great crust and was once again well balanced in texture and flavor from crust to cream. While I think most people would enjoy this pie, I wouldn't say I was floored by it. Either way, I don't think anyone would be disappointed with it.
The woman who helped me choose at the register was wonderful and very friendly. Today, that level of service is uncommon and I suggest the owner of Noble Pies do whatever they can to empower and reward her.
There's a back seating area that was very cute and clean. Didn't hang out there, but could be a great spot for a quick date.
While I'm not quite on board with the pricing, I can see how it's somewhat reasonable. Although I can tell that quality ingredients were used in all pies, it still felt a little too steep to pay about $5 for a single, small-ish portion of the Chocolate Cream Pie. That might be a me thing, however.
For the Cubano pie, I'm more ok with the price. At first it also seemed steep to me, but it's essentially a home cooked entrée with high quality ingredients for less than $20. A lot of lunch spots in the area refuse to even offer anything of quality at that price point. And buying a mass produced version from a box store is going to taste only half as good.
I think I might be the toughest on the apple pie, but that's probably due to the area we live. You can get full size apple pies for the same price or less that are also made with fresh and high quality ingredients, so I'm not sure I'd consider this one a great value. Again, probably because we live in Apple country.
Overall, Noble Pies is unique, tasty, enjoyable to visit, and is of high quality at reasonable prices. A very well...
Read moreA surprising find with the best quiches I've had for sure in the East Coast, maybe ever. Unlike other quiches, this quiche is creamy and savory and well-balanced, more French omelette than custard. The crust is thin but strong, cracking into bite sized pieces easily while not crumbling under a fork. The size of each quarter-quiche seems big but due to the airiness and the balance, it's a right-sized breakfast. I really cannot emphasize this more: these quiches are the thing to get in Beacon right now.
We also enjoyed the not-to-sweet strawberry rhubarb pie. The rhubarb was the star, that earthy sweetness providing the good base flavor. We had both crusts: crumbly and normal. I think I prefer the normal this time but would prefer the crumbly another time. Both were excellent.
Highly recommend this place, it's close to the train station, just take the main road up a bit. In fact, if it's the morning, just make a beeline here and get a quarter-quiche. Between the meat one and the vegetable one, I'd say maybe slight edge to the vegetable which by having less salt brings the eggs more to the forefront. But if you like a bit more salt or a bit more fat, go with...
Read moreWas about an hour from home for some appointments so I thought I would give this place a try. When I got there I asked where the whole pies were, the lady directed me to a number of empty shelves behind me. There was an apple pie, a couple blueberry, and some 6” peach. Not near the selection that the website told me was available at this location. (Beacon) The lady told me I could come back tomorrow and they should have more pies. I ended up buying an apple, blueberry, and 2 6” peach crumb that cost $99 plus tip so well over $100. After getting home we were excited to cut into the pies but were quickly very disappointed. The pies lack taste, did not seem fresh, and for the quality they are vastly over priced. Also, put up a guard/diverter so that the water from the ac unit does not drip on customers as they enter and exit. Overall just a very disappointing experience, we will not be returning to any of this...
