We stumbled across this amazing little record shop unexpectedly during a recent visit to Corning in early July. When I say "little", that's describing only the physical size of the store itself. While this shop is only two aisles wide inside, what it lacks in physical size, it more than makes up for by its inventory of vinyl records, CDs, and DVDs. At first glance, there's very little about the exterior of this unassuming little shop that gives you any indication of the unbelieveable quantity (100,000+) of recorded media inside. While you might expect to find record shops having an inventory that size in much larger cities, finding a shop like that in a city the size of Corning was a very pleasant surprise. Once inside the shop, we searched the inventory and managed to find a number of hard-to-find and obscure record titles. During our visit, the owners (Rob and Amy) introduced themselves and offered to help us find any titles we were looking for. Later on, we spent quite a bit of time talking with them and learning more about this gem of a record shop. They also told us that the inventory in the store is just a fraction of their total inventory, with much of it in a storage location elsewhere. Prices here seemed to be mostly competitive, especially when you factor in shipping costs from record shops on the Internet. Walking through this shop brought back good memories of some old record shops from years past that are no longer with us. We had a very pleasant experience here, and we're planning a return visit. Based on our visit, and the amount of inventory they have, I'd say it's definitely worth a visit to CD Cafe. Thanks...
Read moreReally nasty owner. Friend and I went to check out the shop because she was visiting and curious. Within 2 mins a woman came up and was aggressively giving us looks. We took a photo to commemorate us being together before a big move as it was my last time in the area with her. she quickly marched at us and said “you can take photos in here but at least give us a shout out” I’m sorry didn’t know you had a problem with your customers enjoying your store! She kept packing back and forth giving us a dirty look. Felt very unsafe with both my friend and I being young women of color. The man is nice though! Yeah so hate to assume it’s racism but it seems like other people and the same experience with this owner. Really unfortunate. Left so quickly because we felt really nasty energy from this person. I hope she gets the...
Read moreEdit: after shopping here as well as other record stores more often I have to admit his prices are very comparable to anywhere else. I happened to be comparing one album that just so happened to be very cheap at one store while being a little more than usual at cd cafe, this made the price seem way higher when in reality it was priced right.Prices also depend on the genre. Some stores have really good 90s records, another will have great classic rock or jazz. I found a Herbie Hancock Blue Note tone poet cheaper than anywhere else on the internet let alone a store. Fun store to do...
