The Penthouse at One East Avenue — Attraction in City of Rochester

I don't usually leave reviews. I just felt this one needed to be told. I did not a have pleasant time. I rented out the penthouse for my daughters 18th birthday in January. The process with Max started off good. I let him know upfront what I was looking for; I stated that I wanted to have an elegant party for my baby. I wanted my decor to be gray, gold accented, and black. I wanted the entrées to be one fish, beef, and chicken meal. I wanted appertisers and desserts. Also bring my own cake. Also can I have enough time to set up because I was doing the decor by myself. He said it would be ok because there was nothing else going on that day. So initially stated that I wanted to do a party of 40ppl. I picked the park package which was $38pp. So I thought that was good. Then I had the tasting. I told him at the hideout that I didn't want the bolongese meal because I didn't like the taste and I wanted the chicken cooked more it seemed too wet. Also wanted a different veg because most children don't like brussel sprouts. There was a lot of problems with me wanting to choose or substitute items. That part wasn't so bad because I am a paying customer you do as I ask. He also kept back tracking on his word. My problem was once the event date I had to rush because now Max said I had to set up within my event time instead of coming to set up then come back later for the event. Then I had to rediscuss it through Heidi. BTW I do apologize for being snappy with her. It wasn't her changing everything. He just threw her in the middle and told her one thing and me another. I got to set up like I initially asked. Then after I placed the tables and chairs where they should be Heidi put the linen on. It was beautiful. Yet the linen was dirty. I was told it was because it was old. Also had to mop the floor and wipe the wall because the ceiling was leaking. I came back and Max was having a meeting in my event with some people he were trying to get to buy the event space for a later date. I thought that was so unprofessional. Then on his way out after dismissing the meeting once I told him my guest would be there shortly I asked him can we use his overhead speakers and spotify. He said yes while jumping on the elevator. Then my guest comes and he has this guy managing the event. He tells him, yet again, a totally different thing. So now this guy is totally disrespecting my guest which mind you are children. He claims they are breaking the speaker when then just switching songs. One of his workers Mya, which was amazing, heard him say I can have access to the radio. So the guy calls Max. Now I'm on the phone arguing with Max because he is being patronizing, condescending, and yelling as if I'm his child. Not even listening to the fact that his worker is being unprofessional. It gets so bad that I have to threaten to sue him because he unprofessionally stated he'd shut my event down after giving all that money and setting up and decorating myself. When it was his worker that was wrong. So he called back with some false apology and then asked can we not use the radio after I asked him in person if it was ok. Then said it's because they have personal information on the tablet. Other than that the event was beautifully decorated and went great after that guy left. I wouldn't recommend because of employees. A Memorable Celebration @ The PH venue.

I recently hosted my husband's 50th birthday surprise party at the Penthouse Venue, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. From start to finish, the staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. Heidi, in particular, ensured every detail was perfect, and John was an absolute delight to work with.

The venue itself was stunning, offering breathtaking views and a luxurious atmosphere that set the perfect tone for the celebration. The attention to detail in the decor and amenities truly impressed both myself and my guests.

Throughout the planning process, the staff were attentive and responsive, making it easy to coordinate every aspect of the event. On the day of the party, everything ran smoothly, allowing us to relax and enjoy the festivities without any worries.

Overall, I cannot recommend The Penthouse Venue enough. The combination of exceptional service, stunning surroundings, and helpful staff made for a truly memorable experience. I will definitely be booking with them again...

Hosting our Winter Wellness Vibes Event at The Penthouse space was an absolute delight!

The venue provided a perfect backdrop for our gathering, with all around city views and a spacious layout that accommodated our activities seamlessly.

The staff were incredibly attentive, professional, and from the moment we started planning months earlier to the time we stepped in, we were treated with warmth and hospitality.

Heidi made sure to send us a detailed email for parking for our guests and answered all of our questions and requests ahead of time, and together with Max, Jon and their staff went above and beyond to ensure our event ran smoothly. And it did!

The ambiance was magical and top notch. Our guest left impressed and happy. We received numerous compliments on the choice of venue. We couldn't have asked for a better venue to host our event.
