There are a few bad reviews because the castle isn't open to the public. The building is the headquarters for The Landmark Society of Western NY, a professional, regional, historic preservation nonprofit. It's not a house museum nor are there exhibits to look at. During the summer, there are usually tours offered on specific days that must be pre-registered for as the staff at The Landmark Society aren't docents, so there are only certain days and times the docents are there for tours of the first floor. What will you see if you get inside? Historic finishes, but the spaces are offices and conference rooms...no historic furniture setups. As a World Solo Traveler; I chose Rochester NY as my Latest Destination. (Also to visit Family) I have always been intrigued by ANY Historical Landmarks or Distinguished Locations.
