Buffalo pizza tasted like the freezer it came out of. The rest of it didn't have much going on either. When my 22 year old son only eats half and doesn't want to take the rest home, it's bad. I was told they didn't have the gyro ( I was a bit leery anyway ordering it outside of a Greek diner, which is my norm) I was told the speedie platter was very similar. If both dishes are cooked correctly, they are worlds apart! Gyro is made with warm greek spices. Speedie is Italian in origin and is meat in a vinegar based marinade. Sure they served tzatziki sauce with the speedie, but that doesn't make it Greek, or right. The chicken was dry and the vegetables were burnt beyond recognition. I can see why they offer a suggestion for a second skewer for an additional charge. If the meat was delectable there really wasn't much of it and you might have wanted more. I did substitute fries for the rice pilaf. The fries were just ok. If they truly are trying to go a Greek way with the speedie I would recommend maybe tabbouleh instead of pilaf. Even though tabbouleh is lebanese it's getting you closer then pilaf. They served naan with the platter, which is from India. The flavor profiles jump around too much from one country to another. The naan they served was mostly burnt but I tasted one non burnt area. It wasn't like any naan I'd ever had anywhere else and I hope to never have that taste in my mouth ever again. best part of the speedie platter was the salad and that's not saying much because it was the kalamata olives that made it good. If there was feta it was pulverized. Some bigger feta chunks would have gone a long way. Again, speedie, tzatziki sauce, naan and rice pilaf?? Pick a cuisine. My husband however said his frittata was decent, but what does he know anyway. 😂. I've been here once before with my daughter who is at U of R. We had wings. Again, decent but not outrageously tasty. I think this place is better for people who mostly want to watch sports, drink, and perhaps have something to soak up the alcohol. There's a place for everyone. This just isn't, in my opinion, a food...
Read moreWe had a Soccer Tournament in Rochester New York and travelled from Ontario, Canada. The team wanted to do a dinner together with players and families which being 50 people would be no easy task...so I thought... I looked at the reviews for The Distillery Restaurant, spoke to Liz and Coe who were Management and they got the task.
In can't tell you how thorough, seamless and accommodating they were to assist our large group. Menu was prearranged and sent 48 hours prior to our arrival. We also had two birthdays to celebrate and they assisted with two birthday cakes. We arrived and they placed us upstairs at the back and even had a separate section for the boys apart from the adults which was great.
I don't know the names of the two waitstaff but they were so amazing and assisted all of our needs. They hopefully will see this and know I gave them a special shout out!
They did their very best to have everything ready and everyone eating as close together as they could and the food was great. My wife loved her salmon and I had the Shrimp Street Tacos. I would say this: not one person raised any issues about anything.
The birthdays were celebrated and everyone commented to me on a job well done organizing this dinner....but the true thanks goes to the amazing staff and Management for hosting such a wonderful time.
I was told by the parents that if we return next year this is is the place we want to come back to: So you can't get a better review than that I think!
Honestly: Thank you so much for a job very...
Read moreOn 12/09/22, my friend and I went to the Distillery at 6pm. We were put on a wait list and went to the bar. No problem as it was a Friday night and we were in no hurry. It was moderately busy. The younger, woman bartender passed us five times without any acknowledgement. The sixth time I made direct eye contact with her and asked if we could order drinks. She ignored us like we weren't even there. 20 minutes later and still no drinks or even acknowledgement. The buzzer rang letting us know our table was ready. We were seated upstairs in a nearly empty section. Our younger, tall waiter asked us if we'd like a drink and we informed him we've been wanting drinks for 20 minutes. He took our drink order and said he'd be right back with them. 10 minutes goes by and he asks us if we'd like to put in our entree order. We said yes but also would like the drinks as it's been 30 minutes now to get two beers. He said the bar is busy and "I'll see what I can do." Like he was doing us a favor. It hit an hour with no drinks. We left, I told the host what happened after he thanked us for leaving. His response: "I'm sorry". Left thirsty and hungry. Went to a competing establishment and had a wonderful, timely dinner.........and drinks!
I understand the current human resources situation the Biden regime has created, however, if you don't have the staffing, you shouldn't be taking on the same amount of customers as if you were...
