The first trip we made to Phantom of Clarksville was in 2002. Following 9/11 and being at war, it seemed appropriate to "do it up right" for Independence Day. We drove over 100 miles from Central Kentucky to Clarksville, spent $300, and everyone who came to our July 4th cookout was blown away. The show has quadrupled since then and so have the spectators.
Price and selection are the two biggest reasons we go to Phantom. The sale of aerial fireworks was recently allowed in Kentucky but we still drive to Indiana for price, selection and quality. Going to Indiana for fireworks has been our Memorial Day tradition for several years! The people who work in Clarksville are definitely important to that decision, too. Darren McKinley is a fixture at the store and he never fails to come out and make recommendations when we're there; even on Memorial Day. Unlike most fly-by-night roadside tents with seasonal employees, Darren knows his stuff and I truly appreciate that. When I ask for his recommendation, I know I can trust it.
If you've never been to a Phantom before, it's a buy-one-get-one deal. You can make money go even further with coupons and early bird specials. Generally, before May 31, they have some fireworks for a buy-one-get-two-free deal. They're probably last year's inventory but we've never been disappointed. The coupons can get confusing but the sales people are knowledgeable and super-willing to help. Sign up for the catalog for more coupons. They aren't obnoxious with marketing.
Phantom Fireworks is the major brand but there are some others, as well. If you're looking for "Black Cat", look elsewhere. Phantom firecrackers and bottle rockets are as good or better than the ones you remember from your misspent youth. They do feature some Grucci-licensed stuff and many house brand 500 gram repeaters that make the crowd go "ooh" and "ahh".
We're going to have at least 60 people for the 4th of July party this year. They're not coming for the hot dogs or hamburgers or beer. They're coming to see a show. For the last 16 years, Phantom has made that possible and my family is...

Read more10/10 best "bang" for your buck as far as fireworks go. my dad and I have been going to phantom for 7+ years and we have never been disappointed in the price or quality. the buy one get one free deal is great, and so is the "no duds" guarantee. however, for the first time ever today we had a slightly negative experience with our cashiers who were sketchily scanning items multiple times. as soon as i noticed i requested a complete re-scan, paying close attention to their actions. easily couldve been a mistake or a new employee or something though, which is why I didn't mention it to a manager....
