This is going to be a long review because I want to make sure that I include all of the AMAZING and THOUGHTFUL things that Kimberly and the ENTIRE STAFF at the Candlewood Suites Louisville North did to host my group in November 2024.
From when I first called to inquire about a block of rooms in early October to the time we checked out, the service that Kimberly (the sales manager) provided was friendly, attentive, and accommodating.
Despite my group being small (we only needed 15 rooms) and comprised of families coming into town for a youth football tournament, Kimberly always treated us like we were the most important group that she had ever worked with. She was beyond helpful with families individually booking their rooms, secured us an amazing rate, and was in constant contact with us to answer questions. While most hotels are less than excited to have to deal with a kids’ sports traveling team made up of 11 and 12 year olds, their siblings, and potentially inattentive parents, Kimberly was pumped that kids were going to be on property. After being in contact for weeks, Kimberly even came in on her day off because she wanted to meet all of us in person.
Upon our arrival Friday evening, we were welcomed into the lobby decorated with football themed rugs, tablecloths, and pillows, a banner and a photo station, a balloon arch of our team’s colors, and football themed inflatables for the kids to play with in the pool. As if that wasn’t enough, she also got all of the players and siblings goody bags for us to take home on Sunday. All weekend, the families kept commenting that the staff at the hotel made us feet like total rock stars.
At the games, while other teams voiced their grievances with their accommodations, we were sure to brag on Kimberly and the Candlewood by telling everyone that our hotel was amazing. Star at the front desk was professional and understanding when I touched base with her and told her to make sure to tell me if the kids got too rowdy and she needed me to reign them in.
The icing on the cake was the hotel’s consideration at checkout. For our last game on Sunday at 9am, it was raining buckets. Instead of having to make the two and a half hour drive home in wet clothes, the hotel offered us a late check out time. This allowed members of our group the luxury of coming back to the Candlewood, taking hot showers, and changing into dry clothes. As a parent, this also saved me the stress of having to rush to pack up and check out before the game.
If there is one drawback to the hotel, it would be that in catering mostly to business travelers, they do not offer breakfast. However, pretty much every restaurant under the sun is in close proximity to the property. We catered in Chick Fil A Saturday morning. I brought breakfast and utilized the room’s kitchen on Sunday. There is a machine offering free coffee in the lobby. The beds were comfortable. The rooms were clean.
If you are ever planning to be in the Jeffersonville/Clarksville/Louisville area, the Candlewood and the customer service that they provide can not be beat. In addition to the success we saw at the tournament, the experience Kimberly helped to create for the families will always be remembered fondly. I can’t express enough how appreciative I am of the efforts of the Candlewood staff who helped us end our season in the most...
Read moreThis hotel was disgusting and terrible in just about every way. Garbage everywhere in all of the public areas inside and out. All of the carpeted floors in the public areas and rooms were severely stained. Cigarette butts everywhere. Every room option available to us was dirty, disgusting, and wreaked like cigarette smoke.
The pictures we saw in the IHG app did not at all accurately represent this hotel. Those pictures must have been from years ago.
We requested a room with 2 beds but there were none available on the first floor even though we called the hotel in advance and told them we needed a room on the first floor. The first room the guy checked us into was 103 and it was trashed, wreaked terribly of smoke, and had some unidentifiable device on the table. Went back to the desk, asked for another room and got a similar room that still smelled like smoke and only had one bed. The front desk clerk brought us a rollaway bed that we had to make ourselves. I've never stayed in a hotel where they told me I need to make my own rollaway bed. We arrived late at 2a.m. and just wanted to get to bed so we could leave at 10a.m. This entire process of getting checked in, getting a bad room, looking for other room options, took one hour. If it wasn't so late and we weren't in the middle of nowhere, I would have left and found somewhere else.
The side of the building where the entrance closest to 103 is located had no functioning exterior lighting.
All night and morning there were people by the entrance on the other side of the building smoking cigarettes and drinking booze.
This is the type of run-down hotel people might stay at if they are construction workers, hunting, fishing, or something like that. NOT at all a family-friendly environment. If this is an extended stay hotel for construction workers, the homeless, drunks, etc then they should portray that accurately in the hotel's description so people like me and my family will look for a more decent option. Don't try and play it off as if this is some kind of family friendly hotel that anyone can stay at. A complete disgusting nightmare and...
Read moreWhen I booked a suite with the two rooms for 4 adults online I had no problems, but when I went to check in I was told the room was only for 3 adults. I didn’t say anything because one of the adults ended up having to work and couldn’t join us. To me that is wrong it should not have allowed me to book online if the room was for only for 3 adults. If the other adult would have came, would I of had to get two rooms?||||With having the two rooms and the air conditioner being in the couch area, it was extremely cold in the couch area, but because there was just a tiny vent to get air in the back bedroom it would be warm back there. No way to regulate the temperature to where everyone could be comfortable. So the person who slept on the pullout couch froze so the people in the bedroom wouldn’t sweat.||||Beds were extremely uncomfortable. ||||The Ice/snack area was not temperature controlled, so it was extremely hot in there!!||Like take your breath away hot when you walk in. ||||Things we liked about the room was the size and the spacious kitchen area with a big refrigerator and the big table, although the chairs were stained and could use a cleaning. ||||Bedroom area very spacious with a little vanity area and nice size closet. ||||It was quiet, we didn’t hear other guest.|||| All in all it looked clean other than the stains on the chairs.||||Although we loved the size of the room I would not stay at a Candlewood again, just because of the uncomfortable beds and not being able to regulate temperature in the...
