I have been living at Centric for the past two years and it has been a great experience!
Location: The location of the apartments was a big selling point. The apartment is just minutes away from several major hospitals (Case Western's University Hospital and Cleveland Clinic), which is ideal for healthcare workers, students, or anyone who values proximity to medical care. There are a ton of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance — especially with Little Italy next door, there’s no shortage of options. The RTA train access is excellent. There's a stop just around the corner which is very convenient as well for transport. While the passenger RTA train is quiet, it is important to note that there is a louder freight train that also uses the same tracks and might be an issue for light sleepers.
The Apartment: The units are modern and well-maintained. My apartment has updated appliances and lots of natural light. The in unit laundry is a necessity, which not all surrounding area apartments offer and we have a secure entry which adds to safety. I do wish we had more in unit lighting especially in the bedroom and living room which have no light fixtures (and at the price point we pay).
Amenities: Management is responsive and professional, although a bit slow if you have any after hours issues (ie getting locked out, heating/cooling issues w/ thermostat). We also have a lounge on the seventh floor with a full kitchen, study spaces and sofas for hanging out, along w/ rooftop deck, which is convenient. Although, the apartment complex offers no pool.
Downsides: I think two of the biggest downsides to the apartment complex are no included gym and paid parking. The complex sits above a privately owned gym facility and although they offer discounts for residents, I feel like this should be a free amenity for guests living in the complex. Perhaps, Centric could consider purchasing the gym down the road or turning the lounge upstairs into a gym, which may have more utility. I currently go to a gym across the street.
The other downside is the cost of parking. Parking is via a private vendor that owns a garage adjacent to the apartment complex and costs about $165 a month. I have never before lived in an apartment complex that charges for parking. I think this is ridiculous and the apartment complex should be providing free parking (especially in a city w/ frequent snow, rain). Unfortunately, there are no other open or free lot options either unless you park at the hospitals (which are also paid).
Overall, Centric apartments are a great place to live for the ease of commute to nearby hospital and medical school campuses and for proximity to lots of restaurants and coffee shops for young professionals nearby! The apartments provide safe, updated, and modern living facilities that while may not be the most luxurious, but are very comfortable. I really do wish that the gym and parking were included in amenities for the complex as a lot of nearby complexes do...
Read moreI have lived here for a while now and was one of the first residents when they opened. I absolutely love coming home at the end of the day to these apartments. The amenities, the community, the staff, the apartment itself, it is all so great.
Downstairs they have a to-go cafe with an espresso machine that I have used roughly 5 times today ALONE! $1.25 for a nice latte makes for a nice break during my work-from-home day. For those late-night sugar cravings after stores are closed, I can ride the elevator down and pick up chocolate-covered cookie dough bites or chips.
Since it is summer, I have been trying to maximize my time outside and what better way to do this than by using one of the grills Centric has for its residents. They get cleaned frequently and are always gassed up. Perfect for grilling by yourself or with friends! (Post-COVID or in a responsible manner of course).
The social lounge hasn't gotten as much use this year for the sole reason that there is a global pandemic happening. I've had birthday parties here though before as well as dinner parties and Game of Thrones viewing parties. They have a FULL KITCHEN and lots of seating both inside and out. The view is one of the prettiest in Cleveland, looking out over University Circle.
They also have a mail room/storage system which is a huge plus because my house before moving here was very susceptible to having packages stolen, so you will never have another package go missing if you move here. The have a full bike storage room, which I can not use because before I moved here, my bike was stolen from my garage, had it been kept here – I'd still have it!
The staff is absolutely lovely. They respond to your questions in a professional and timely manner and are ALWAYS courteous. I made friends with the guy that worked the night shift and helped him with his med school applications, so I think that goes to show how great these people are.
It is walking distance to the university and all hospitals, but there is also shuttles that stop right outside to catch a ride anywhere around University Circle. Lots of restaurants in the area too. I walk up to the Italian bakery several times per week to grab some tiramisu.
They usually do move-in offers too: free month rent, free parking, referral cash (speaking of which, message me before scheduling a tour and we can both cash in on this referral deal if they have it and I can tell you more great things about Centric).
Wouldn't live anywhere else. I am probably going to be here through my whole schooling because I wouldn't want to live...
Read moreI would NOT recommend living at centric. My car was stolen at gun point in the parking garage on a Monday evening during broad daylight. This parking garage is 165 dollars a month which is outrageously expensive especially with no cameras in it. Though this garage is not owned by them but ABM, Centric has some responsibility as they market this parking garage to their residents. This is not the first incident as several car break ins have occured over the last two years that I have lived here and nothing has been done to make it safer. After this incident I immediately went to the leasing office to inform them of this and asked what would be done to deter incidents like this and ensure centric was a safe place to live. Instead of informing residents of this serious crime that occurred on the property they chose to send out a “general safety reminder” that essentially asked residents to report suspicious activity in order to create a “community watch” about two weeks AFTER this robbery. For an apartment complex to charge as much as they do, asking residents to oversee their own safety is absurd. They did inform me that they would install a camera which they did do and I saw that they placed it to face the garage entrance but that camera is no longer there. I am not sure if it fell off or they actively took it down. I also attempted to post on the centric app(NRP Group) bulletin page to inform residents that an aggravated robbery occurred and to be careful. The leasing office BLOCKED my post and have not responded to my email sent nearly a week ago asking why. I no longer feel safe in my home since this garage is physically attached to the building and the slow/lack of response...
