La Borincana Foods — Attraction in Cleveland

They have a range of products from Latin America that would appeal to people from around the world, such as salted fish, Columbian cheese, and many Goya products... however, and, unfortunately, they did not have all the ingredients we needed to make Puerto Rican sofrito, which is kind of like the trinity of Cajun cooking (onions, bell peppers, and celery), only with more ingredients: garlic, parsley, and other items, and serves the same purpose: providing the flavor basis for meats, soups, and sauces. This a non descript looking place on the outside, unless you really don't pay attention you can miss it, no signs on building, but inside it's tight but the variety is absolutely outstanding, the place is alot of small aisles loaded with things you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else, the exotic smells in this place reminds me of afro-caribbean markets in New York, there is so much to see that it's like a museum, everything catches your eyes, they pack ALOT into a small space, it is very authentic, unless your not into food from Africa, South America, Central America, or Asia you would be a little lost in here, you really have to be into these types of food to navigate this place, it is a learning experience, you will be saying OMG alot of times in La...

Despite the narrow aisles, there is a wide array of products available here that you can choose from. The best selection of Caribbean and Spanish products you can find in Cleveland. My mind was taken back to the islands. Neither regular grocery stores nor online shopping is able to provide these products. We now visit there on a weekly basis with my husband.

Edit: The store has undergone significant changes. If you wish to pay with a debit card, you must make a purchase of 15 dollars. They did not have shopping baskets before, but now the cashier keeps them and has to give them to you. The review has been reduced to three stars. We don't go...
