I want to lobby hobby supply shoppers not pursuing a favorite pastime, art or talent because they can't afford materials and tools necessary to create or craft...
Always flawless...and...who doesn't love a reward? As a frequent shopper enrolled in the arts and crafts retailer's rewards program, I can VOUCHER for the value and savings earned for customer loyalty.
Michael's Rewards program membership is free...zero fees to join...you must use the rewards card at the time of purchase to earn credits with a range in cash value from $.01 to $5.00...
Membership pays off. There's a constant chance for savings from the signature 20% discount on qualified, regular priced items storewide...opportunities to receive bonus, personalized rewards, in addition to coded coupons customized "just for you" and sent to your phone for convenience. Some coupons earned a fix, denominational ($ amount) or a higher percentage off total spent per transaction over a specified amount.
Those offers can reduce a sale by 40%...for the busy bee budget boost, once you've spent $300 in the last 12 months, the 3% automatic earnings on every eligible purchase that's automatically available to all members will increase to 6%!
Pursuit of savings and perks offered by most retail rewards programs are usually incentivized. A Michael's memberships is different.
The incentive that makes me giddy is the $5 voucher. This perk gives you a $5 store credit on a purchase before the assigned expiration date. Once your accumulated balance reaches $5, is issued for next visit within 3 days. The voucher credit can sometimes double during certain seasonal promos or be awarded from a clipped coupon...
The voucher is a cash-back style concept reminiscent of shareholder dividends, in that it provides a fractional, small return-of-investment. Perks that don't require stipulations to be met or any more from the member than what they've already spent are rare. However, Michael's had crafted their program to pay off. There's plenty of benefits to show a loyalist they're valued and appreciated.
Bottom line: benefits offered from a rewards program membership at any hobby supply store must outweigh the bulky number of email promotions using up a program member's personal...
Read moreI am so disappointed in Michaels. The store is crowded and stuffed with very cheap looking merchandise. I also will NEVER take anything to be framed at this store. I had a cross stitch picture on which I had worked very hard framed there. It had to be redone three times before it was acceptable and I still wasn't please, but was just tired of dealing with them. The lady who waited on me was very rude and insisted that I was being "overly critical." Seriously?? At the same time, I also took a print I'd purchased in Vermont to be framed. They CUT off part of the print and the margin around it was clearly uneven. I insisted that they pay for the print as they had ruined it. Fortunately I was able to order another print and have it framed elsewhere. DO NOT take anything to Michaels to be framed if you want a good job done. Even with their so called 50% off sales, the prices are about equal to local shops who do a much, much more...
Read moreMy husband and I visited the Micheals in College Station today (10/13) we were greeted by Tegen, at the framing counter. She was polite, professional, and an amazing example of customer service. She was just finishing up with one customer when we approached, and had another couple ahead of us. She asked us to go ahead and place our items on the counter. The other customers also seem extremely pleased with her options, and her opinions on their framing needs. When she was completed with theirs she began helping us. She was knowledgeable and had lots of options for our needs. After a few minutes of chatting we made our decision and she stated she would be able to have it completed within a few minutes. We returned after a few more, and pleasantly surprised and satisfied with the results of her expert framing skills! We will be returning to Michaels for all of our framing needs purely because of Tegans customer service, attitude...
