Montelongo's Fine Jewelry — Attraction in College Station

Toni helped me give my mother the gift of her dreams for her birthday (and neither one of us is local)!!!

My friend in College Station is always wearing the most striking pieces of jewelry. I am not a jewelry person at all, and yet I would find myself mesmerized by the sparkle on my friend's hands when she would gesture. I finally asked her where she had gotten her rings. The answer: Montelongo's.

A few years passed. I was visiting my friend and wracking my brain for the perfect gift to give my mother for a special birthday. I remembered that Mom had mentioned that she would really love to have a "mother's" ring, and my friend took me over to Montelongo's to visit.

This store is beautiful and the staff were super-friendly and had lots of great ideas. I mentioned the idea to my mother, and she had a trip to planned to College Station before I knew it.

The staff at Montelongo's truly gave Mom the royal treatment - special thanks go to Toni Martinez for this. Toni took us both by the hand and guided us through this process (I knew nothing) with intelligence and helpful feedback without ever being pushy.

We spent half a day there trying on all sorts of rings to narrow down the style and formulate the design of her custom piece. Mom has some arthritis in her hands, and the staff knew how to design a ring that would slip on her finger without any problems.

I was concerned about the price of a custom-designed ring, but soon discovered that there was a way to lower the cost. One of the truly wonderful things about this process is that it allowed us to pull out random pieces of jewelry that were not being worn and turn them into something beautifully personal that will be treasured and enjoyed daily. Remember that pretty piece from your ex that's been in a box for years? Turn it in and get a credit (current market price) towards the gold needed for the setting. We pulled out some earrings that had never been worn and used that, too.

Montelongo's was able to make a 3-D print-out in plastic of the ring so that Mom could check the size, height of the setting, and design to make sure she was happy with it. They mailed it to her so she didn't need to make a special trip. I was able to reach Toni in a timely fashion anytime we had a question or needed something to make sure the gift was still on track to be done for her birthday.

My mother had a wonderful birthday and to this day she wears her "mother's ring" daily. My sister and I were able to give her something far greater than I thought would be possible. But it wasn't just the end product, it was the process, and Toni at Montelongo's is forever our go-to person in the future. I can't thank...

I don't understand why there are so many poor reviews here. I NEVER write reviews but I have to write one for Montelongo's because they were so wonderful to work with. My fiancé purchased an engagement ring for me from a different place and I was not happy with the center stone. I wanted a pink sapphire instead. So, we took the ring to Montelongo's to see if they could find a pink sapphire center stone. After bringing in 4 different sapphires, I decided on one of them. Less than a week later, my ring was ready, and I walked out of the store with the new center stone. But after walking out, I realized it was the wrong color. I was so embarrassed to bring it back in and tell them I didn't like it. I thought I would have to keep it. But, when I brought it back in, they were not bothered at all. They were so kind! They were determined to find the right stone for me. After a few weeks and turning down some other stones they brought in, they finally found the stone I was looking for! Baby pink sapphires are hard to come by in the cut I needed. But, I was willing to wait for it, and it's absolutely perfect. Each time I went into the store, I was kindly greeted and welcomed. They would come to me and shake my hand and ask if I wanted a glass of water while I waited. I worked with several different people including Nina, Tony, Jesse Sr., and Jesse Jr., and they were all extremely kind and helpful. Never once did I feel uncomfortable or "pushed" to make a decision. They were very patient (especially with me since I changed my mind!). I have nothing but good things to say about Montelongo's. We were so impressed that we are going to purchase our wedding bands from them as well! Don't believe the apparent "horror" stories. My experience...

My husband and I went back to CS in May for our wedding reception. On Friday afternoon, the day before our 2pm reception on Saturday, we went into Montelongo's to get my wedding ring cleaned. Jacob Woodard-Rueda greeted us when we walked in, and helped us the entire time. When they took the ring back for cleaning they noticed a small gem stone on the side was broken and let us know. They told us that they could easily fix it, it would only take a couple of days. I was pretty disappointed. Not only was the reception in less than 24 hrs, we were already busy, and my ring was broken- but we were set to fly back to where we live overseas in 3 days. Unfortunately we didn't have any wiggle room for this repair. My husband thanked them and explained our time constraint. Then the jeweler himself came out to speak with us, listened thoughtfully, and said that he would personally come in the next day to have it ready by 1pm. Y'all it was ready by 11am, completely fixed and sparkling clean. Note, we did not buy this ring from them, and haven't even lived in College Station for more than a decade. The cost of the fix? Incredibly affordable, far below what we would have expected to pay even if we didn't need such a quick turn around.
