I used to work at this Marble Slab location & there are several things I observed while there that makes the mere thought of going here as a customer revolting. The biggest thing is observing on more than one occasion candy or fruit such as strawberries being spilled all over the floor in the back while making ice cream, then the same said fruit being scooped up from the floor with bare hands & still mixed in with the ice cream; disgusting is an understatement. During my employment the owners sister was a manager & would always show up late, hung over, & bragging about her partying the night before right in front of customers then turning around & reprimanding employees for being late with an excuse. The managers do not do a good job of training new employees whatsoever so the service is never consistent nor is the ice cream preparation not to mention you NEVER know if what you're getting has been dropped on floor. They do not provide a break room for their employees & yet reprimand employees for eating food from another establishment during THEIR measley 20-30 minute break in front of customers. They also do not bother to explain any of the rules of conduct & then reprimand an employee for not following said conduct that they were unaware of to begin with. For instance I received a warning for smoking a cigarette, during MY break (where an employee is allowed to use that time as they choose) in the designated SMOKING AREA, because I was wearing my Marble Slab shirt; no one informed me that I was not allowed to do so initially. Then the owners sister does the SAME thing numerous times & no repercussions whatsoever. The owner is judgemental & rude, plain & simple, as well as just totally disorganized & does not seem to realize what's really going on at their business. I had gotten quite sick with a cold & had a Doctors excuse but the manager called me in, so I ended up going in anyway. Since it is an ice cream shop they keep it quite cold in there & I had a horrible mix of a cold & sinus infection. I was moving around really fast serving customers & what not so I started to perspire. I'm one of those individuals that sweat very easily & more so when I'm sick. I kept coughing really badly as well, due to my illness & severe difference in my body temperature & temperature in shop. I tried my best to cough in my elbow so as to avoid coughing in same hands I was handling customers ice cream with. In addition while coughing I tried my best not to cough in the direction of the ice cream, all while pouring sweat & trying my best to keep it out of my eyes & from dripping off my face. The owner had watched me that day & called me back in her office. Instead of asking me how I was feeling being called in while sick with a Doctors excuse, she scolded me for being hot & sweaty & coughing all over the waffle cones. Perhaps you shouldn't force sick employees to come to work, which is just gross. Then when I attempted to call in the next day because I was even more sick but didn't have doctors excuse yet, I was fired. How a business treats their employees speaks volumes; keep that in mind! There's no real structure or consistency in anything at this facility & the owner seems to be oblivious. Lastly on countless occasions while closing up employees would eat ice cream straight from the buckets in the front. They'd lick the spoon clean & stick it right back in the same ice cream your orders are scooped from multiple times; ew!! It was also a common thing to see dead roaches under the freezer & an occasional mouse. When I brought it to the managers attention that was present at the time, "Well, I'm not cleaning it," was their...
Read moreWorst experience ever!!!! I had went to Great Americans on whittlesey in Columbus, Ga on Friday, October 4, 2024 in the evening time to order a customize cookie for my boyfriend birthday. It was last minute very understandable but the service was really bad today for some reason. I have ordered customize cakes from them in the past but I never been to this location at all before. For this to be my first time will be my last time because the customer service was terrible, nobody acknowledge whatsoever, everybody pretty much ignored me until I said something, and then when I asked to see if I get a customized cake made it was very unsure and hesitate at first and was told it will take 2 hours and was already $30. I was very understanding that was not the issue. When it was time to pickup the cake I was once again not acknowledged after standing for a couple of minutes to see if anybody was going to help me. I ended up trying to talk to somebody and when I was shown my cake it looked very tacky had all the writing done correctly the icing around the happy of the beginning part was messed up. Like for somebody you could’ve done better like I paid my money I would like to get my money worth. I told one of the associates that I wasn’t pleased with the cake and she was very annoyed judging by her facial expressions. She didn’t seem like she cared and more like she didn’t dare to help me. She was like what do you want me to do because we did it on the whelm. Nobody here can do it professionally at the moment and she messed up and tried redo it but we can’t do it back over. It’s already late so what you would like for us to do about it. I was so annoyed because they was willing to take my money but did poorly at the detailing and the professionalism of presenting it. I’m not pleased and never coming back again ever to this location. I politely don’t want no part here and let it be known to them I don’t want to come back again because I don’t want no refund I just don’t want to come...
Read moreUnfortunately I am leaving an awful review for this company & management. I have ordered plenty of cookie cakes from this location and have never had an issue. The balloon cake (as pictured) was purchased less than a month ago for a friends birthday. I had another friends birthday this month and ordered the same cake, but bigger. The second picture is the cake I received. No balloons, and appears as though a 5 year old wrote on it. I was extremely disappointed especially considering I spent $20 more on the bigger cake. I spoke with the manager who explained to me that if I wanted to decorate the cake myself, I could do so. He also wanted me to bring the cake back to the store. They refused to compensate me with anything at all. I was very displeased. The manager also told me to come into the store versus ordering online so that I could specify that I wanted a “top notch decorator”. Not helpful at all. Beware- you’ll spend $60 on a cookie cake to feed 25 people for your best friends birthday, and end up with a childish looking cake. Hate to write such a bad review, but...
