Roa Studios — Attraction in Columbus

My wife who is African American went in yesterday on her birthday to ask for a small orange, yellow and black monarch butterfly memorial tattoo. Two different artist said that they were experienced in doing tattoos on dark skin. One quoted $100 and the other $80. They made her an appointment at 6:00pm and when she came back in the tattoo “artist” didn’t show up until 6:30 and then stated he could only do a black outline tattoo on her because of her skin color. He went on to tell her how he could only use primary colors. When she agreed to blue and yellow. He said he didn’t feel comfortable doing it. He only felt comfortable doing a black butterfly.
