Had the opportunity to try this place on Tuesday February 28th 2023. We ordered few items of the menu and this are some of the notes I took. first thing we ordered was the Pan (bread), made the assumption that would've been baked in house and had the extra authentic touch; and it did, although not a bread kind of guy, my partner does enjoy a good bread with the meal.
We ordered two of their tapas - their Camarones al Ajillo (Sautéed Shrimp garlic) smaller portion than expected, but the flavor was great, not too salty or over cooked. the second item was their Patatas Bravas (Fried potatoes) truth to be told, that was our least favorite of all, but still had a decent flavor and I could ask for much more.
for the Paella, as recommended by my Cousin - we went with the Paella de Mariscos (Seafood Paella) comes in two different presentations first is a smaller plate that would be enough for two people and the big plater that would feed at least 4 - 5 people. One of the most authentic paella we have ever had in the US. flavors, the textures, portions, etc. all coming together in harmony to provide you with the perfect bite each time.
The service was phenomenal and the environment makes you feel welcome; something I don't get to experience often in German Village.
Few days later, we had visitors from AZ. and we were so impressed with this place, that we had decided to substitute one of the other restaurants we wanted for them to try for this place. You should defiantly give them a try.
p.s. this place might be a special occasion kind of place for some of you, since is more expensive than other spots in the area, but is worth...
Read moreMy husband and I are fairly new to OH, so our OH native friends invited us out to dine at one of their favorite restaurants, Barcelona. They spoke so highly about the food our reservation date could not come around fast enough. I will begin with the positives, the ambiance was beautiful, the staff was friendly and the manager was courteous by coming over to apologize for the delay in receiving our food.
Now onto the negatives, once we were seated, we were asked by our waiter if we wanted water, and about 30 minutes in, we finally received some. As we sat and sat our glasses became empty, then finally a young lady walked up to refill our glasses. By that time our friends started apologizing for our experience. Our waiter finally came back and took our order, so we ordered an appetizer and bread for starters, well when our tapas came out about 30 minutes later,, our waiter asked if we wanted our order to be put in? I guess from the looks on our faces, he immediately responded with that we would receive our food fast in about 10 minutes
Well, 25 minutes in (we were tracking) we got our food and tha manager came to apologize. But my husband and I food was not good, I eat scallops often;therefore, when mine tasted like they were not completely done, I became nauseous and could not finish them. My husband ordered the chicken and rice meal and his chicken was extremely dry and lacked flavor and his rice was crunchy as if it was cooked too quickly. I believe that the restaurant was short staffed; therefore, everything else was poorly executed. Again, everyone was kind but the restaurant did not live up...
Read moreWent here for an anniversary dinner with my fiancée. I put this detail in the reservation and they did have a menu saying happy anniversary, and the man who seated us wished us a happy anniversary as well, which was good. The atmosphere is great, one thing I liked was the music volume was not too loud. The service was fantastic and we were well taken care of by our waitress.
We ordered red wine flight, a plate of mussels and fried potatoes to start, and all of that came out pretty quickly. I was very happy with the size of the mussel "plate" (it came in a metal container) and the potatoes too. Both tasted great, best mussels I've had for sure.
We also ordered the Lamb Paella. It was easily enough to feed two people with some left over, especially after having eaten two plates. Unfortunately, the Lamb was far more rare than expected and was very fatty to the point that the vast majority of it was just not edible. This was pretty disappointing especially because of the price. However, the rest of the Paella was very good and flavorful.
To end on a good note though, we did have the pumpkin cheesecake and it was incredible, probably one of the best cheesecakes I've had from a restaurant. Oreo crust was super good and the pumpkin flavor was perfectly balanced.
I think Barcelona is absolutely worth going to for a nice dinner, I doubt the Lamb mistake is the norm and their food was great otherwise, as was everything else. I'd probably go for the Paella Barcelona (the seafood Paella) if I returned or was recommending to others, since they clearly do...
