I ate the most delicious grilled cheese sandwich that I have ever eaten on 11-30-2023 at Varsity Club Restaurant and Bar at 278 W. Lane Ave. in the "University District" neighborhood of Columbus.

I had been planning to eat there [for my first time ever] on 11-19-2023 but left after only a few minutes because they had been extremely crowded right then because of an unknown-to-me basketball game several hours later [against Western Michigan University beginning at 4:00 p.m.].

My return visit to Varsity Club Restaurant and Bar had been about ten days later during the early afternoon on 11-30-2023, a "non-game" day, so there had been plenty of room.

I recall my server telling me that their menu is more limited on "game days" [because they have so many more customers on "game days"] and is larger on "non-game days."

My food choice on 11-30-2023 had been a "Three Cheese Grilled Cheese" sandwich [Provolone, Swiss, and Cheddar on sourdough]. That sandwich had been at least half an inch thick and had been extremely delicious and had been quite filling.

The cost for my meal had been less than I had been expecting because the listed price on the menu had included fries that I had declined when my server had asked me if I had wanted fries.

If you are looking for some delicious food served in an energetic "OSU sports" environment, I recommend Varsity Club Restaurant and Bar.

But if you are not interested in sports, I recommend eating there on a...

Genuinely one of the worst experiences I've ever had at any bar or restaurant. Honestly if the service was good, I'd accept the mediocre food given the low prices. Bartender would go 20-30 minutes without even looking at you. Almost seemed to make it a point to serve the entire bar after I had asked him for another drink and he blew me off. I get that he was solo and the place was busy, but ultimately people at a place like this don't require 5 star service, they just want to see someone that hustles. If you wanna get a quick bite before an event at the Schott, I'd look elsewhere. I was there 2 hours and barely was able to order 1 drink and some food. The food sat in their window for I'm guessing 20 minutes and came out stone cold. My friend had to pressure someone to look in the kitchen for it as it had been a seriously long time. Would rather go to burger king. Absolutely never coming back, nearly ruined my whole day. Your bartender has a terrible attitude, and he moves...

Where to begin, well I know where: our beautiful server: Angela. She’s been compared to an effervescent light in this dark and gloomy world which we are subjected to reside in. She carries herself with grace and elegance, floating over the thin-planked oak flooring with an angelic presence - fitting that her name is just one letter away from Angel! She took the time to understand our palates, the combinations of sweet, salty, sour, bitter, umami that we preferred and recommended the basket of zucchini. I had no words, it was simply divine. I cannot recommend this establishment enough and it shall be decreed a crime to visit the OSU area without a visit to this glorious brewpub. At the end of the day, no material items can quite compare to the way that relationships are fostered and nurtured in these 4 walls. You may walk strangers, maybe even enemies, but you will leave friends (or...

Varsity Club Restaurant & Bar is an old-pub favorite located in the heart of the Ohio State University campus. The atmosphere is lively and full of energy, making it the perfect place to watch the Buckeyes play. The menu offers a variety of classic pub fare, including burgers, sandwiches, wings, and salads. They also have a great selection of beers on tap, including many local brews. One of the highlights of Varsity Club is the outdoor patio, which offers a great view of campus and is a popular spot on game days. Inside, there are plenty of TVs to catch all the action, and the staff is friendly and attentive. If you're looking for a fun spot to grab a drink and watch the game, Varsity Club is definitely worth checking out.

This is a cool little college bar to see while you are visiting OSU. It has some character and I'm sure a lot of local followers. The food was amazing! Pizza was cooked perfect and cheesy with a nice crunch of the dough. Great atmosphere with the NFL Sunday games going to include Cinci vs Cleveland rivalry. Could have had the sound on for the big game but still a great place. Service was good even with several kid parties in the dining room. Could have used another staff member or two but our server did a great job keeping up with us.

My son goes to Ohio State and suggested that we go to the varsity club for lunch. This place was the bomb. My kind ♥️ of place. Great atmosphere from the minute we pulled up. I took my sons photo standing next to the statue of Woody Hayes. When we entered the staff greeted us right away and seated us. Very friendly. The service was outstanding. Food was excellent. If u are ever in columbus you have to check this place out. After exiting, you get a full view of the Ohio State football stadium. See all of you there.
